Council Meetings

HOW TO ACCESS THE MEETING VIA ZOOM

The California Arts Council accepts comments from the public during its business and committee meetings.

Each substantive voting item on the meeting agenda has an allotted period for public comment specific to that item, as reflected on the agenda. Meetings also include a designated time for general public comment to address any non-agendized Council business. Individuals who wish to provide live comments during the Council meeting must attend in person or join virtually using the web link or phone numbers listed above.

Written comments may also be submitted in advance of the meeting of the Council and until 5 p.m. up to two business days after the meeting’s end. All submitted comments will be distributed to Council members. Comments submitted before 9 a.m. two business days prior to the meeting will be submitted to the Council before convening; all others will be supplied to Council after the scheduled meeting time. All submitted comments will also be entered into the official record of the meeting as part of the meeting minutes.

Public comment may be submitted anonymously if desired.

PUBLIC COMMENT POLICY

The California Arts Council is committed to creating a culture of trust and transparency with members of California’s arts and culture community. We have created a public comment policy as a tool to establish community agreements to support the safety of all community participants. 

Spoken or written public comment is intended to address the work of the California Arts Council body or agency only. Community members should not directly respond to their fellow commenters; doing so may result in intervention and redirection by the Council Chair.

We will not accept graphic or obscene comments or submissions, nor do we accept comments that are abusive; hateful on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity, religious affiliation, age, or disability; or intended to defame or discriminate against anyone or any organization.
