The Developer of Learning, Experience and Programming is responsible for coordination and implementation of public programming, interpretive and experience initiatives, and educational activities that support OMCA’s brand as a museum, garden and gathering place and advance its social impact of building trust, understanding, and connection between people and communities. The position develops a range of offerings in collaboration with staff and community partners that connect audiences to the Museum’s exhibitions, core galleries, and collections. The position works closely with a unit of Program Managers and Program Developers who work cross-functionally and support a cohesive slate of programming, learning, and experience activities. Individuals within the group will focus on distinct areas of programmatic, experience and learning specialty while collaborating with all positions within the unit.

Associate Director of Digital Strategy
The Associate Director of Digital Strategy develops institutional digital/content marketing and digital engagement strategies in support of the institution’s revenue and social impact goals. Oversees the development and maintenance of Museum’s owned web properties, the OMCA Blog, SEO/SEM strategy, email marketing, and social media strategy. Position works closely with the Director of Marketing and Communications to ensure the institution’s digital advertising programs are integrated with activity on its owned platforms. The Associate Director of Digital Strategy collaborates with key stakeholders from across the institution to plan for and support Museum’s digital programming, digital exhibition, and other major content projects in addition to digital evaluation efforts.
Associate Director of Individual Giving
The Associate Director of Individual Giving is responsible for growing philanthropic support from individuals who are inspired by Oakland Museum of California’s mission. In addition to managing relationships with some of the Museum’s most generous donors, this individual will also have oversight of the planned giving program. This position works closely with the Executive Director and the Chief External Relations Officer to cultivate, solicit, and steward both unrestricted and programmatic gifts to the Museum. Additionally, the Associate Director of Individual Giving will manage the Individual Giving Manager, providing strategic oversight to the Donor Forum program, the Museum’s higher level donor membership group. This position will work collaboratively across the Museum, partnering with staff to identify fundraising opportunities and to instill a culture of philanthropy across OMCA.
Creative Producer
The Creative Producer plays a pivotal role in OMCA’s digital strategy, by developing and guiding others in the creation of engaging and strategic video content. The Museum’s dynamic audio/visual content spans elevating in-gallery experiences, external marketing and communications, and institutional resources. In this position, you will work closely with cross functional teams to create media assets that are on brand, meet the stated objectives, and can be re-purposed across multiple platforms when required.
Director of Facilities and Safety
The Director of Facilities & Safety is responsible for the effective management and maintenance of the Museum’s buildings and building systems, including the Conservation Lab and Collections Research Center, and internal and external Museum event production functions. The position creates a safe and secure physical environment for Museum staff, volunteers, visitors and collections. The position also collaborates in the successful implementation of the Museum’s wide variety of programs, events, and exhibits, and ensures that the physical environment reflects the Museum’s mission, vision, and visitor-centered philosophy of being a museum, garden, and gathering place for the community. The position facilitates capital improvements and major facilities projects, including construction, renovations, and upgrades. The position is the main point of contact for the City of Oakland’s Public Works department for major repairs and capital improvements.
This position leads a five-person team that directly manages the Museum’s buildings, gardens and living collections, overall safety, and external and internal events operations functions. The Museum’s buildings are primarily owned by the City of Oakland and its main campus location is a historic concrete structure in the brutalist architectural style, completed in 1969.

The Director of Learning, Experience and Programming creates and executes the institution-wide strategy that brings together in-gallery and exhibition experiences and campus programming to support OMCA’s brand as a museum, garden and gathering place and to advance its social impact of building trust, understanding, and connection between people and communities. Working in close partnership with the Chief Content Officer, the Director of Content Development, and program, curatorial, and collections staff, the Director oversees programming and interpretive activities that are imbued with a unified theory of learning and clearly articulated impact and outcomes, and that advance OMCA’s vision to create personal, accessible, imaginative and relevant experiences for all visitors.
