One of the longest established contemporary art galleries on the West Coast, L.A. Louver is seeking a full-time Registrar to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have two to five years of experience with a fine art gallery, shipping company, or arts institution, and an excellent understanding of professional best practices.
The Registrar will need to be a strong team player, working closely with the Assistant Registrar, Lead Preparator, and Operations Manager to organize shipping, framing, and conservation; maintain and update the inventory database; and liaise with gallery colleagues, artists, clients, and vendors.
This colleague must be extremely detail oriented by nature, a clear and gracious communicator, capable of working well under deadline pressures, and have good professional judgment.
Responsibilities may include:
· Initiate and monitor incoming and outgoing shipments (both domestic and international), communicating with shipping vendors to obtain estimates and manage pickup, transportation, and endpoint delivery of artworks.
· Track and manage artwork movements, consignments, and loan agreements
· Ensure artwork inventory database records remain correct and updated, prioritizing artwork details, images, location, condition, framing and production costs, as well as provenance and exhibition history entries, working closely with Archive.
· Assist with general collections management, including condition reporting, cataloguing, and tracking of artworks across multiple locations, including on- and off-site storage, artist studios and exhibition loans
· Oversee basic art handling and preparation duties; assist as needed with packing and unpacking, installation
Desired Skills and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in related discipline preferred
· Minimum two years registration and/or collections management experience in a gallery or art institution
· Proficiency and experience with art inventory / collections management database (familiarity with ArtBase is ideal)
· Proficiency with Mac OS X environment, MS Office Suite; Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Acrobat Pro) a plus
· Knowledge of art handling, art storage, and transportation best practices
· Must be able to lift 30+ lbs
· Must have valid CA driver’s license, as position may require working out of multiple locations
This is a full-time (Monday-Friday), salaried staff position with benefits, including medical and dental insurance, paid vacation and sick leave.

Small Works is a national juried show of artwork no more than 24” in its largest dimension (including frame). All media are eligible except jewelry, film/video. All entries are judged from digital files. One $30 nonrefundable fee entitles each artist to submit up to three entries. Purchase awards may be available for accepted work. Accepted artists may be selected for a solo show at Harper College. A color catalog will be published in conjunction with the exhibition.

Backroads: Further On Ahead
“Backroads: Further On Ahead” seeks to expand on the popular 2021 theme of “art, less traveled”. This exhibit showcases works of art that venture off the beaten path, especially with regard to travel. Artwork could include places or experiences involving hidden gems, landscapes, nature, special or unusual places, wanderings, odd travel, strange encounters, and/or lost and fading places. Works may incorporate natural elements or folk/Americana themes. “Further On Ahead” is a summer exhibit, and could convey a sense of summer fun in the works (i.e. not winter), and that the journey never ends…!
Works can be from any medium, and are accepted from Emerging, Mid-Career, and/or Professional Artists.

ELIGIBILITY
This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work that has been selected for previous exhibits with Art Fluent will not be considered.
RULES
Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Open to ALL fine art mediums (oil, acrylic, watermedia, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture, fiber, wood, digital art) except film/video.
SELECTION PROCESS
Director’s choice. Each show is curated and juried by Creative Director, Amy Matteson Neill along with an anonymous committee of jurors. Please note, there is no personal feedback given by jurors.
ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry is done through CaFÉ, a web-based service that allows artists to upload images and organize their artwork for submissions to galleries. To apply for a call, you must leave our website and go to the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org where you can create a FREE artist account. You will add your details and upload your images to CaFÉ and then you can submit work to AMORE. If you have any questions, please contact us at hello@art-fluent.com we are happy to walk you through the process.
MEDIA PREPARATION
All images must be in JPEG format using CaFÉ guidelines. The image size must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 mb.
NOTIFICATION
Notification will be done by email, everyone who submits will be notified of the juror’s selections. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with CaFÉ.
SALES
All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist’s website. For any artwork that is sold, the artists receive 100% of the sale.
GIVING BACK
A portion of the proceeds from the entry fees is donated to organizations committed to the arts and supporting artists.
REQUIRED FORMS
Cash awards over $600 are subject to federal income tax withholding within the United States. A W-9 form must be filled out by the winner and submitted to Art Fluent, Inc.
