“VOYAGE” National Juried Exhibition at Arc Gallery

DESCRIPTION: “We are all inventors, each sailing out on a voyage of discovery, guided each by a private chart, of which there is no duplicate. The world is all gates, all opportunities.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
Arc Gallery is seeking works related to the subject matter of “voyage.” This can be a documentation or a memory of a trip taken, the anticipation of a voyage, a trip to an imagined destination, a wandering without a specific destination in mind, the act of travel, modes of travel, or various phases of a voyage. This may also encompass the various passages of one’s life, a path of discovery, or an exploration of one’s mind. We encourage your imaginative interpretation of this topic.

JUROR’S AWARD: A Juror’s Award ribbon, certificate, catalog and $250 will be presented to each of the three works that express the most imaginative interpretation of the theme.
EXHIBITION DATES: November 19, 2022 – December 17, 2022
GALLERY & ON-LINE GALLERY: There are two opportunities to get into this show. The juror will select works that will be exhibited in the Arc Gallery at 1246 Folsom Street and works that will be included only on the Arc On-line Gallery.
CATALOG: All artwork selected will be included in the exhibition catalog. Catalogs will be available for order at the time of notification.
ELIGIBILITY: Artists residing in the United States.
NON-REFUNDABLE ENTRY FEE: Payment of $35 per entry.

Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director
The Social and Public Resource Center (SPARC) located in Venice, California is looking for Executive Assistant to the Artistic Director. The ideal candidate is a college graduate with at least 4 years work experience, and at least two years in an executive assistant role.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Supporting and closely working with the Artistic Director in a highly fast paced setting
- Managing, scheduling and prioritizing of the Artistic Directors professional appointments, partnerships, public requests, lectures, meetings, etc.
- Administrative support with the Artistic Directors records, budgets, inventory while maintaining a high attention to detail
- Support the Artistic Director with artwork archive management and oversight
- Research support on artistic productions and projects at the Artistic Directors request
- Interfacing on behalf of the Artistic Director with high level management within SPARC’s external partnership network, including academic institutions, museums, funders, and the arts community
Full-time hours: Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, 11:00am to 6:00pm, some weekends required.
Must be available to work on site at SPARC’s Venice location, following all health guidelines and restrictions in compliance with the COVID-19 pandemic.
Salary: $50,000 annually plus benefits
Qualifications:
- Able to work in a fast paced environment
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with diverse internal and external stakeholders and partners
- Creative problem solver
- Strong computer skills; including proficiency in Mac operating systems, Microsoft Office programs and Google Suite
- Graphic Design skills; preferably Adobe Photoshop
- Able to work independently with great attention to detail
- Must be a good team player with good work ethic
- Able to maintain professional protocols at all times
- Dedicated and socially conscious person; comfortable working with diverse communities
- Able to work with Artist’s students and staff
- Have a working knowledge of contemporary art, art institutions and art practices
- Demonstrated experience and commitment to community organizing or other social justice related work
- Demonstrated interest in public art, muralism, architecture, art education, or civic engagement fields
- Bilingual candidate preferred

Contemporary Art Gallery Online Announces an International Call for Artists to Participate in the 4th Annual 2022 “ALL Planet Earth” Art Competition & Exhibition.
Online Art Competition to be open for entries from March 28th, 2022 to April 24th, 2022. Contemporary Art Gallery Online encourages entries from all 2D and 3D artists regardless of their experience or education in the art field. The “ALL Planet Earth” theme is considered to be any art which depicts anything associated with our magnificent planet. An exhibition of all entrants will be held online from April 27th, 2022 to May 24th, 2022. Artists should submit their best representational and non-representational art. This competition will be judged on Painting & Drawing Art, Photography & Digital Art, Mixed Media & 3-Dimensional Art. Awards will be given for the top 5 to 8 works selected, (this will depend on the number of submissions). Winners will be announced on May 11th, 2022. Entry Fee: $15 for up to three images, $25 for up to five images and $35 for up to eight images. Funds in US Dollars.

On Neutral Ground
“On Neutral Ground” seeks works of art that explore neutrality and the middle way. In a world of increasing polarization and conflict, those who do not choose sides are left to wonder where to stand. “Neutral Ground” seeks to create a zone of peace by displaying works of art that are free from heavy sensory output including themes and messages, whether intentional or not. Works could show a softness, harmony, balance, and sense of meditation. In doing so, works ideally should incorporate neutral tones, such as white, greys, soft blacks, and beige. Works may also include “natural” media, in terms of the materials used and can be of a political nature, so as long as they are free from overt messaging and convey the ideals of neutrality.
From a sales standpoint, we are seeking artwork that may appeals to the “neutral” in home or other decor. Photography should ideally be greyscale. Sculpture is also welcome. Works are accepted from Emerging, Mid-Career, and/or Professional Artists. .
“On Neutral Ground” In-Person opening reception party will be held Saturday, June 4th, 2022 at 6 PM. Show will run approximately until the 4th of July.

Sanchez Art Center (SAC) seeks California artists (18 and older) for its 14th annual 50|50 Show, which takes place September 9 – October 9, 2022. To apply, determine your theme and shape it in 10 words or less. Submit your theme plus up to 15 artwork images in your selected medium(s), via CaFÉ™ (https://www.callforentry.org/). Accepted artists will create 50 small works (6” x 6”) over the course of 50 days. Creation of works by participating artists will begin Monday, June 27 and end Monday, Aug 15, 2022.

Call for Superhero Art
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking artwork for consideration for an upcoming exhibit at Newhall Community Center. For this art exhibition Santa Clarita Arts is seeking artworks that showcase the amazing universe of superheroes! Whether it’s characters from Marvel, DC or from another existing superhero universe, we want to see your favorite heroes in action. Applicants may submit artwork in the medium of their choosing as long as it can be mounted to a wall. This includes but is not limited to paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, and textiles. The City of Santa Clarita utilizes a special wiring system that requires all artworks to be brought WIRED in order to safely hang.
