Open Call – V I D E O S O U N D A R C H I V E – S16
V I D E O S O U N D A R C H I V E Season 16 –Calling for video and sound works that reconsiders the current restructures and parameters. Rather than a festival or exhibition, we are carving out a space to encourage a literal pause in life and ‘mindful use of this easily accessible medium’ by underscoring critical thought and creation. Leaning away from social media and insta- “content creation” (vanity metrics) we hope to allow a straightforward space without the unnecessary pressure of views/likes. Ideated on January 13, 2020, we are both artists working in this medium. Our hope is to build a network to foster connections, and create a place for your work to exist in a broader conversation — a pure art exchange to experiment and express without buzz words, vanity metrics and artspeak.
- Please submit works with a maximum running time of ten (10) minutes.
- Please submit works that include both your original video and sound in the same piece. If you are not the sole creator of the video and/or sound, please include all collaborators, and/or list public domain/open source.
- Please read over our FAQ before submitting.
To be considered for S16, please submit by April 30, 2026 11:59pm PT
or use this link:
https://forms.gle/QMuCLnXXHB6sGtTKA
Notification of selected works for S16 will be sent via email on May 8, 2026.
We appreciate your time and look forward to getting to know your work.
Thank you and take care!

BIPOC Surviving Predominantly White Institutions (PWI): A series of support for BIPOC who have survived and are surviving PWIs
artEquity provides tools, resources, and programming at the intersection of art and activism. With over 15,000 participants and a growing alumni community, artEquity is building a broad base of individuals and organizations who are creating and sustaining a culture of equity, inclusion, and justice through arts and culture.
The systems we interact with often reflect deeply ingrained dynamics of white supremacy. In moving intentionally, we refuse to disengage; we are responding by gathering. We all deserve a safe place to land, to process what we’re enduring, and to be met where we are. Our FREE community offering, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) Surviving Predominantly White Institutions (PWI) makes space for that.
Each BIPOC Surviving PWIs session will cover different topics, and you are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions based on your own interests and availability.
The goals of our Black, Indigenous, People of Color Surviving Predominantly White Institutions Series intend to:
- Create a community of support for Black, Indigenous, People of Color (BIPOC) who are either actively working, have worked, or are considering working in a predominantly white institution (PWI);
- Break through the isolation experienced by BIPOC folks who are often the only one or one of few inside of white institutions;
- Provide fundamental concepts and terminology to support and empower BIPOC folks in identifying and navigating racism while working in PWIs;
- Activate wellness and healing for BIPOC folks as central to surviving and thriving; and
- Provide and inspire strategies for BIPOC folks that meet them where they are currently on their journeys, whether they’re seeking to disrupt, survive, and/or leave.
This space is for individuals who identify as People of Color, BIPOC, AAPI, MENASA, ALAANA, SWANA, Black/African American, Indigenous/Native, Latinx/Latine, or People of the Global Majority. Each session will cover different topics, and you are welcome to attend any or all of the sessions based on your own interests and availability.
BIPOC Surviving PWIs is free, but REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED to attend. Please register for the individual sessions you wish to join.
Engaging with one another encourages us to say, “I don’t know what’s next, but I’ve got this—we’ve got this.” We remind ourselves that we have agency over how we choose to navigate systems.

What’s Going On? Art in Response
As the 21st century unfolds, we find ourselves in rapidly shifting territory. Political, Economic, Social, Technological and Environmental changes are swift and unstable.
Many of the institutions, organizations and communities we have relied on to help us make sense of our world seem to be crumbling. Most of us are unsure of what is real.
Art reflects the emotions, concerns, and aspirations of a people. Through artistic expression, artists can communicate, provoke, and challenge injustices and give voice to insecurities and aspirations.
Please submit your visual responses and perspectives related to the unsettling and confusing zeitgeist we find ourselves living in.
