Chorus America Music Education Partnership Grants

Chorus America invites nonprofit organizations and schools to apply to the Music Education Partnership Grants program, which is designed to support collaborations between community organizations and elementary and/or middle/junior high schools during the 2022-23 school year.

In the inaugural year of the program, Chorus America will award $900,000+ in grants serving students in 4 regions of investment: British Columbia & the Northwest, Central Appalachia, the Southwest, and the Upper Midwest.

Chorus America will award grants ranging between $15,000 – $50,000 to each region. In addition to funding, Chorus America will also offer a robust peer learning experience for the grant partner cohort, including virtual convenings and participation in the 2022 and 2023 Chorus America conferences.

Projects led-by BIPOC/People of the Global Majority are strongly encouraged to apply, as well as applicants led-by and serving historically marginalized communities. First-time grant applicants are also encouraged to submit an application.

But Once A Year: Holiday Art Market seeks to display and sell works of art from any style with the primary focus being on sales, particularly end of year during the period between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Works do not have to express a specific holiday or holiday themes (although this is acceptable), but should be unique art and/or craft items that shoppers would consider purchasing as gifts, and set at affordable prices for casual art buyers.  Authentic reproductions, prints, and works that can be sold in multiples will also be accepted for this opportunity.

Deadline and shipping will be rolling through November and artists will be contacted on an individual basis as applications arrive.  The first hard cutoff to receive formal notice on your application status will be November 10th.

Vestige Concept Gallery is an in-person arts display space and store located in Pittsburgh’s Lawrenceville, a fun arts, culture, and shopping neighborhood.  We promote and sell works to casual walk-in’s, private clients, as well as online, through mixed exhibitions and events.

Holiday Art Market is accepting works from emerging, mid-career, and/or professional artists. Work should somehow relate to the theme of the show in the sense of “season”, and items that are unique, handmade, fun, small-to-mid sized, and affordable.  Examples include ceramics, photography, items made into greeting cards and prints, items geared toward children, holiday or winter themed (not exclusively), jewelry, jewelry boxes, wooden items, sculpture, paintings, watercolors, prints (such as woodblock, screen print etc.), fiber arts and much more.  

If working with a gallery to promote and sell your works is something that interests you, or you have worked with a gallery in the past, this is a great opportunity to do so.  We are ready to discuss pricing and marketing if necessary.  Interested artists should have a desire to market and sell their work and ideally, have some sort of online or local presence.  The primary goal of this event is to sell art.      

But Once A Year Holiday Arts Market will open on November 20th and run through December 31st, with sales promotions and special holiday social events throughout the duration.  

Like Clockwork

Like Clockwork seeks to showcase works of art that address the nature of time.  From birth, our daily routines, anxieties on aging, death, rebirth, to creation and destruction, the forms of time give shape to human experience.  Traditional thought, from China to ancient Greece, embodies time not only in gods and goddesses but also in the various devices which measure and grasp it.  Time as a flux is apparent in the flow of grains in an hourglass; time as eternal return, in the circling aeons of the Indian and Maya calendars or the tail-eating serpent Ouroboros; time as a universal pattern of synchronous events, in the I-Ching or the astrologers’ intricate figure-work.  The paradoxes inherent in these parallel ways of conceiving time reveal the mysterious Coincidence of Opposites which underlies the cosmos.  It’s as the old adage says.. all “like clockwork”…   

We are accepting works from emerging, mid-career, and/or professional artists. Work should somehow relate to the theme of the show.

“Like Clockwork” In-Person opening reception party will be held Saturday, January 8th, 2022 at 6 PM.  

ELIGIBILITY

“Like Clockwork” is open to any artists over age 18, within the United States and Canada.
Work should ideally have been created in the last three years, and must be the original artwork, ready to display.
The specific work must not have been previously displayed in a Vestige Concept Gallery exhibit.
Work must be for sale. (No “NFS” or deliberate overpricing)
No Giclees or reproductions of original works will be accepted unless the work itself is a Giclee.  Please note this in the media tag, if applicable.

Museum Store and Guest Services Manager

Position Description

Reports to the Executive Director. Part time, 20/hours a week. This position may be combined with the

Communications and Membership Manager’s position (to create a full-time position) if the candidate has appropriate

skills and experience.

 

About the American Museum of Ceramic Art (AMOCA)

AMOCA’s mission is to champion the art, history, creation, and technology of ceramics through exhibitions,

collections, outreach, and studio programming.

 

Founded in 2001 and opened in September 2004, AMOCA is the largest museum in the United States devoted

exclusively to ceramic art and historic innovations in ceramic technology. A nonprofit organization, AMOCA’s

volunteer board of directors is responsible for policy, direction, and appointing the executive director. Its permanent

Position Overview

The Museum Store and Guest Services Manager is responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Museum Store (40%)

● Design and maintain store displays.

● Manage online webstore and sales.

● Solicit consignment artists for the store.

● Formulate, organize, and supervise events and programs run through the store.

● Facilitate all customer transactions.

● Manage store Inventory.

 

Guest Services (40%)

● Serve as the front-line person to open the museum, answer phones, and greet and direct visitors.

● Primary person to facilitate ticket orders over the telephone, online, and in-person.

● Serve as “weekend manager”.

 

Administrative (20%)

● Assist with mailings and event preparation as needed.

● Support events and receptions as needed.

● Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

The Museum Store and Guest Services Manager will work in general office and museum conditions. Responsibilities

Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.

 

Compensation

Salary: $20 per hour

records.

● As needed, support for the Executive Director and broader development efforts and events.

 

Communications & Marketing (40%)

● Support the writing and design of communications for weekly and monthly efforts on social media, direct

email marketing, and print pieces.

● Produce and present weekly reports, including basic digital analytics.

● With support from the team, coordinate execution of a weekly social media plan.

● When needed, create platform-specific content including text posts, videos, and graphics.

 

Other Duties as Assigned (20%)

● Support, along with your colleagues, general business operations, including answering phones, greeting and

directing visitors as needed, and facilitating receptions and events.

● Serve as “weekend manager” when needed.

● Along with the rest of the team, assisting with mailings and event preparation as needed.

● Strong writing skills. Design and photography skills are a plus, but not required.

McEvoy Foundation for the Arts presents exhibitions and public programs that engage, expand and challenge themes in the McEvoy Family Collection.

Position                                                                                                                                                                 

McEvoy Arts’ Receptionist is a central player in a small, dynamic staff team. The ideal candidate is independent, mature, and comfortable working in a highly collaborative, fast-paced arts production environment. The Receptionist is the primary forward-facing position in the organization and works closely with visitors, supporters, senior staff, board, and key partners. This position reports to the operations manager while providing basic general assistance to other departments.

Responsibilities                                                                                                               

Gallery/Reception

–        Greet and receive visitors during gallery hours and events, using reservation system when active.

–        Recruit, hire, train, and schedule gallery support staff as well as security when needed.

–        Support and organize gallery tour schedule, when active.

–        Support ticket and merchandise sales. Reconcile cash and credit card sales.

–        Provide periodic attendance and tour participation reports.

–        Support the care needs, safety, condition, and security of art works in the gallery.

–        Occasional support for gallery events outside of public hours.

 

General Administration

–        Responsible for constituent database. Conduct contact research, enter and maintain information, and facilitate distribution of invitations and collect RSVPs.

–        Conduct a variety of administrative tasks including organizing visitor travel; maintaining office calendar; answering the phone; responding to email and other general inquiries; shipping and receiving mail; managing departmental expenses and files; maintaining the office library; and ordering supplies.

–        Provide basic research, copy-editing, and written support for departments as needed.

–        Occasional light lifting of packages and furniture may be required.

–        Assist with board meetings including scheduling, taking minutes, archiving documents, and ordering food.

 

Qualifications

–        Two to four years of undergraduate education with at least two years of administrative experience in an office setting.

–        Strong customer service and interpersonal skills and sensitivity to a range of social, economic, and cultural perspectives, histories, and experiences. Multilingual skills a plus.

–        Proven organizational and time management as well as strong written and verbal communication skills.

–        Personable, well-spoken, and passionate about the institution and its values.

–        Knowledge of contemporary art.

–        Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and at least one contact database system (FileMaker preferred.).

 

Schedule

Tuesday – Saturday, 9:30 am to 6 pm with occasional evening hours. The position is currently offered at full-time, 5 days/week. We will consider an 80% FTE as well.
