Contemporary Art Room Gallery is proud to announce their 2nd “Blue” Online Art Competition for the month of October. This is an international competition and artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. The theme may include any work with interpretation of the color blue or shades of blue as a prominent or secondary color. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art. First place will be on the poster of the show. All winning artists will receive a digital award certificate. $15 for 2 images, $28 for 4, and $40 for up to 6 images. Deadline: October 20, 2022.

Store Associates are responsible for promoting sales, processing sales and orders, and providing excellent customer service. Preferred schedule for 15–23 hours per week. One weekend day is required but weekday schedule is flexible with advance notice. Must be able to work with individuals of all ages and support large museum-wide events like Family Festival Days and all Store staff is required to be available for Black Friday weekend and annual inventory.
Duties include processing on-site, phone, mail and web order sales; assisting with store merchandise display: receipt and stocking of new merchandise; pulling, packing, and shipping orders; promoting sales of membership, gift certificates and other special sales as needed. Light office duties; data entry, making copies, filing, typing, etc. Reconciles cash drawer and empties donation boxes at the close of business. Adhere to Museum COVID-19 protocols.
HS Diploma, Bachelor’s degree preferred. Minimum of a year of customer service experience in a retail environment. Prior non-profit experience and working with volunteers beneficial. Ability to multi-task, adept with handling cash and processing sales and requires professional phone skills for taking customer phone orders and answering general inquiries. Must be able to provide courteous and effective service to co-workers, volunteers and the public. Knowledge of Shopify or similar POS system and Altru database software is preferred. Familiarity with Google Suite and MS Office. Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture a plus; however, sensitivity to issues of diversity and ethnicity is essential. Clear background check and credit check; fully vaccinated + Boosted for COVID-19 is required to work on-site.

JANM is currently seeking a Visitor Services Associate to join our team, works 2 to 3 days per week, between 14 to 20 hours/week.
Visitor Services Associates work in a team and are responsible for creating an inviting environment for guests while providing excellent customer service by interacting throughout the museum and exhibit space. Provides information about Museum exhibitions, programs, safety procedures, and services including the Hirasaki National Resource Center, Facility Rentals, and Group Visits.
Bachelor’s degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum one year of Front-Line Guest Service/Receptionist experience. Familiarity with reception lobby tasks or similar operations that deal mainly with the general public as guests. Takes guest reservations and answers general inquiries–in person, over the phone, and via email–in a professional manner. Is adept with handling cash and processing sales. Prior non-profit, museum experience and working with volunteers is beneficial. Knowledge of Japanese American history, culture and community is a plus; however, sensitivity to issues of diversity and ethnicity is essential. Requires availability on weekends and evening hours. CORE EXHIBITION PROJECT MANAGER

JANM is located in the Little Tokyo/Arts district in downtown Los Angeles, a neighborhood that has experienced an exciting revitalization with diverse new restaurants, shops, luxury apartments, and nightlife.
The Core Exhibition Project Manager is responsible for supporting the overall management, coordination, and implementation of the Museum’s new core exhibition in collaboration with the Vice President of Exhibitions & Art Director or/and Chief Curator. This includes managing exhibition budgets and reporting, coordinating meetings and communications, assisting in content management, and ensuring institutional priorities are met through the implementation of a multifaceted exhibition program. Staff members must be able to work with visitors of all ages to support the various events sponsored by JANM. The Core Exhibition Project Manager is a Temporary, Full-Time position for the duration of the project.
Masters degree in Museum Studies, Asian American Studies, Ethnic Studies or American History preferred or a similar degree in related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least three years of professional experience working in a non-profit organization in project management, previous work in a museum setting on exhibitions highly desired. Will require some evening and weekend hours based on exhibition schedule. Each staff member will be expected to work on a minimum of three museum-wide events per year: Benefit Event, typically held in the Spring (April-May) at off-site venue; Oshogatsu Family Festival Day (January); Natsumatsuri Family Festival Day (August). Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture preferred. MS Office suite and Gmail preferred. Google Calendar and TMS databases beneficial.

The Kite Prize Contemporary Art Award, an international visual art award, was established to recognize innovative visual artists and creatives who demonstrate exceptional commitment to their work. The award is juried by Amie Potsic Art Advisory, LLC choosing a winning artist based on artistic excellence, creative accomplishment, and cultural significance. ELIGIBILITY
This call is open to artists worldwide, both amateur and professional. Work that has been selected for previous exhibits with Art Fluent will not be considered.
RULES
Work that is copied or done under the guidance of an instructor is not eligible. Open to ALL fine art mediums (oil, acrylic, watermedia, pastel, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, photography, sculpture, fiber, wood, digital art) except film/video.
SELECTION PROCESS
Director’s choice. Each show is curated and juried by Creative Director, Amy Matteson Neill along with an anonymous committee of jurors. Please note, there is no personal feedback given by jurors.
ENTRY PROCEDURE
Entry is done through CaFÉ, a web-based service that allows artists to upload images and organize their artwork for submissions to galleries. To apply for a call, you must leave our website and go to the CaFÉ website at www.callforentry.org where you can create a FREE artist account. You will add your details and upload your images to CaFÉ and then you can submit work to WANDERLUST. If you have any questions, please contact us at hello@art-fluent.com we are happy to walk you through the process.
MEDIA PREPARATION
All images must be in JPEG format using CaFÉ guidelines. The image size must be 1,200 pixels or greater on the longest side. Maximum file size is 5 mb.
NOTIFICATION
Notification will be done by email, everyone who submits will be notified of the juror’s selections. If for any reason you do not hear from us by the notification date, please check the filters in your email account. Notification emails are sent to the email on file with CaFÉ.
SALES
All sales inquiries will be directed to the artist’s website. For any artwork that is sold, the artists receive 100% of the sale.
GIVING BACK
A portion of the proceeds from the entry fees is donated to organizations committed to the arts and supporting artists.
REQUIRED FORMS
Cash awards over $600 are subject to federal income tax withholding within the United States. A W-9 form must be filled out by the winner and submitted to Art Fluent, Inc.

By entering our calls for art through CaFÉ you are agreeing to be added to Art Fluent’s email list for forthcoming artist opportunities. By submitting images, you agree that the images are your own work, nothing copied, you own all rights to the images, and you take full responsibility for the content of all images, including the likeness of recognizable individuals. The actual artwork will remain the property of the artist, our mission is to promote artists and their work.
