Newport Beach Civic Center Sculpture Exhibition
The City of Newport Beach (City) announces a call for entries for Phase IX of its ongoing Sculpture Exhibition to further activate the splendor of its Civic Center Park. Up to ten artworks may be selected and showcased for two years in the 14-acre, ocean-view site specially designed by renowned landscape architect Peter Walker as an intended sculpture garden.
The Civic Center is the heart of Newport Beach – home to City Hall, administrative offices, and the spectacular Central Library building. And the Park welcomes residents and visitors year-round for free concerts on the lawn, art shows, docent-led sculpture tours, visits to the dog park, or leisurely trail walks among the environmentally-friendly native plant life.
The Sculpture Exhibition transforms Civic Center Park into a “museum without walls,” constantly evolving as new, bold contemporary works from world-class artists rotate through, delighting and enriching park visitors. Artists, private collectors, galleries, and museums/non-profit institutions are invited to submit artworks for consideration to be installed from June 2024 to June 2026.

Annual Open Call, Non-Juried Exhibition
January 27 – March 16, 2024
The Huntington Beach Art Center wants to see your art on our walls! Artworks are expertly installed salon-style to feature each unique piece in this eclectic exhibition opening on January 27, 2024.
Centered on the Center 2024 is open to artists 18 years or older. Local, regional, and national artists are invited to participate. Artwork must be original print, drawing or painting, sculpture, photography or video installation.
Artists are limited to two submissions of original artwork completed in the last two years (2022-2024). The fee to participate is $20.00 for one artwork and $30.00 for two artworks. The online submission form is open for artists to schedule delivery of artworks at the Art Center on January 5 and 6, 2024.

Job Title: Administrative Manager
Job Summary:
The board and executive director (ED) seek a strategic, process-minded individual with experience in key administrative planning and execution. The Administrative Manager (AM) will be required to help manage/apply for grants, and organize/execute Thingamajigs’ various programs seamlessly. The AM will oversee the high-level plan for each program, typically involving budget allocation, artist coordination, host/venue/partner coordination, promotion/marketing, volunteer engagement and final execution. The AM will coordinate with the ED to ensure all components of a program are aligned with Thingamajig’s goals and mission.
Company Overview:
Thingamajigs is a genre-crossing arts organization with a mission to explore sounds in found objects and use alternative tuning systems to create new music. We value creating a world where everyone can experiment, create and share their music to the world. We collaborate with local artists, organizations, museums, and our local school district to put on our many in-school education programs, performances, workshops, and festivals. They are designed to spark imagination, fuel creative fire, and destigmatize who and what creates music.
Responsibilities:
Program/Grant Management: in coordination with the Executive Director
- Manage end-to-end grant process: checking grant requirements, drafting project proposals, preparing/submitting grant application, and generating final reports
- Develop and manage project purpose, timeline, goals, and execution
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, such as schools, partner organizations, artists, or host/venue companies
- Assist in production of public events, including, but not limited to setup, strike, merchandize, box office, ushering, and program creation/distribution
- Compile analytical metrics and maintain annual reports
Social Media:
- Develop and manage program promotion and marketing
- Maintain a calendar of upcoming events, activities and workshops
- Maintain and update website
- Create social media content for our newsletter, instagram, Facebook, and Twitter/X
- Write and submit press releases
Key Qualifications:
- Skilled communicator
- Good writing skills
- Able to adhere to deadlines and have time management skills
- Self-motivated, independent worker
- Good collaborator
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with: Squarespace, Google Suite, Canva, Social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter/X), Vertical Response
- Experience in documentation: filming, editing, uploading videos/pictures
- Interest in arts, music, and non-profit organizations
Location and Work Schedule:
This is a fee-for-service independent contractor role with an estimated 15-20 hours/week (may vary during and near events). Schedule is flexible, and the majority of work will be remote. Events may be in person and/or on weekends.
Preferably looking for someone located in the East Bay with the ability to travel around the Bay Area.
