Street photography is the most contentious genre of photography. The captured image presents us with a glimpse of the ordinary and achievements of everyday life. The narrative nevertheless seems to repeat itself, year after year. We challenge you to examine and redefine conventional street photography. Potential subjects include but are not limited to architecture, candid, documentary, fashion, photojournalism, portraiture, still life, and urbanism. How far are you willing to go to get your best shot?

apexart Invites Exhibition Proposals in February for 2022-2023 Season
apexart is accepting exhibition proposals for its International Open Call from February 1 – March 1, 2022. Four winning proposals will become apexart exhibitions presented in their respective proposed cities as part of apexart’s 2022-23 exhibition season. Curators, artists, writers, and creative individuals, regardless of experience level or location, are invited to submit a proposal online. For some helpful videos about our open call: https://apexart.org/opencallvideos.php
The submission process
Proposals should describe focused, idea-driven, original group exhibitions. No biographical information, CVs, links, or images will be accepted. Submissions cannot exceed 500 words and must be submitted in English. Jurors rate proposals based on their content and the organizer’s ability to communicate, rather than by familiar names or past accomplishments. See examples of past winners at https://apexart.org/opencallwinners.php
The selection process
Rather than convene a small panel to review hundreds of ideas, apexart’s crowd-sourced voting system allows hundreds of jurors to individually review proposals. An international jury composed of 400+ individuals from a wide variety of professional backgrounds—including students at approximately 20 international universities—will jury the proposals. Proposals are anonymous and randomized to make sure each submission receives the same consideration. apexart staff does not influence the results of the jury in any way.
The results
The four winning proposals will each receive an exhibition budget of $11,000, staff support, and be part of apexart’s 2022-2023 international exhibition season. Working closely with the apexart team, curators will realize their original ideas into apexart exhibitions. Exhibition curators are expected, encouraged and challenged to work within the funding provided to transform their winning proposals into small, focused, noteworthy exhibitions.
To submit an exhibition proposal, visit https://apexart.org/opencalls.php between February 1 and March 1, 2022.

Rustbelt: REDUX
For full details and to apply: https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=9945
From the creators of “Post-Rustbelt: Living Between America”, comes “Rustbelt: REDUX”. This exhibition seeks to showcase works of art that capture the American experience of life during the decades following the decline of industry (mid 1970’s) to beyond the turn of the millennium. Only this time… we are looking for more grit, more apocalyptic, more “street”, more deconstruction, more political, visionary, and yes- more rust..!
Rustbelt states are most often thought to include New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. Great Lakes Canada is also included. Although regional in the nature of the content, the show is open to national artists who may have migrated away from the rustbelt, as this exodus is also an important aspect of the the Rustbelt experience
We are seeking artwork representative of, but not limited to: heavy industry decline; the disappearance of main street (and subsequent rise of hyper consumerism and gentrification); general life (artistic, social, work, family, otherwise); caught between changes (i.e. holding onto a past way of life while searching for new identity); and/or juxtapositions of old and new. We are welcoming works this year that are apocalyptic, visionary, destructive, and/or political.
Works are accepted from Emerging, Mid-Career, and/or Professional Artists. Work should somehow relate to the theme of the show.

The aesthetic perception of the matter man relates to in his environment conditions his existence on a daily basis determining his own behavior, choices, ideas and vision of the world.
This call asks for an analytical reading, a visual-conceptual extraction of the things of the world, a minimal reduction aimed at extracting those essential signs, shapes, traces and contrasts that create those structures – often invisible – from which we gather information about their own existence, exposing their nature, their function, and which enrich our knowledge of the world.
