The City of South San Francisco Cultural Arts Commission invites muralists and urban surface artists to submit their qualifications for the Mural and Urban Surface Public Art Projects. The City intends to create a list of pre-Qualified Artists through this RFQ. Entries are accepted exclusively through CaFÉ (Call for Entry.org). Artists chosen for the pre-Qualified list will be eligible to be considered for the upcoming public mural and urban surface art projects in South San Francisco. Inclusion in the pre-Qualified Artists list will be for a period of three years. Inclusion in the pre-Qualified Artists list does not guarantee a commission. Call to Artists: Collage on Screen Artist Residency
A five-week, virtual/online residency with Kolaj Institute in August 2023

Collage in Motion is a project of Kolaj Institute that explores collage and the moving image, a broad, loosely defined category that includes animations, film cut-ups, collage film, stop-motion, animated GIFs, documentaries about collage artists, and other forms of media in which collage–as medium or genre–is present. We see our role as not one of defining “collage in motion” but as one of asking what “collage in motion” can be. The project manifests as articles in Kolaj Magazine, an online directory, workshops, residencies, and screenings. Artists with practice of Collage in Motion are encouraged to submit to the online directory.
Collage on Screen Artist Residency is a five-week program designed to support artists who want to develop a practice that includes motion in their artmaking. In five virtual meetings over five weeks and through ongoing, online discussion, we will explore the history of collage on screen and the various ways that collage makes its way to the screen and how collage artists operate in the space of moving images and sound. Unlike two-dimensional art, collage on screen is temporal art, meaning it moves through time. Because of this, viewers experience Collage on Screen not as a linear series of images but as an immersive experience. This residency asks, How do we, as collage artists, make artwork that speaks to that? Designed for collage artists, professional development sessions focus on artist practice, how to develop a story; and how to develop moving images and sound to tell that story.
Residents will make a 30 second film that will be considered for Collage on Screen at Kolaj Fest New Orleans, 12-16 June 2024. If selected, the film will be included in Kolaj Institute’s traveling screening program. Artists may also choose to make longer works which will also be considered.

Call for Artists: Spring 2024 CICA Art Studio Program
CICA Museum invites artists worldwide to participate in the CICA Art Studio Program Spring 2024. The program will be held at the CICA Museum between January and June 2024. The studio space (around 44m2) will be assigned to each artist for one month and the artist will have a solo show at the space for 1-2 weeks during the term depending on the artist’s preference. The artist may collaborate with CICA Museum and/or CICA Kids Lab to hold workshops or performances. The artist will be featured in the e-book, “CICA Art Now 2024.” The print edition will be available by order.

*Term and Conditions:
The studio space (around 44m2) will be assigned to each artist for one month at the CICA Museum between January and June 2024. The artist will have access to the assigned space during the contracted period. Basic tools including hammers, levels, tape measures, electric drills, and screws and a ladder will be available to use. Sleeping in the facility is not allowed.

Grey Art Competition
Artist Space Gallery announces their 1st Grey online Art Competition for the month of August 2023. The jury will select award winners in the following art categories: painting, photography, sculpture. All selected artists will receive a digital award certificate. Best of Show will be displayed on the poster of the exhibition. Only works of art created in black, white and or shades of grey will be accepted. All forms of visual art are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, fiber art, collage, and installation), except sound and video art. The jury will not consider artworks with pornographic or satanic content. $20 for two pieces of artwork. Deadline: July 26, 2023.
Faces Art Contest
Grey Cube Gallery proudly presents the fourth Faces online art contest for the month of July 2023. Best of Show will be on the poster of the show.
