Call for Art – Queering Democracy: Art, Identity, and Politics in 2024
Rochester Contemporary Art Center (RoCo) and ImageOut Art seek artist submissions for a juried exhibition opening in Rochester, NY in 2024. Queer art has achieved greater prominence in recent years, yet the LGBTQIA+ community’s struggle for freedom and equality persists. We hope this exhibition will serve as a reflection of our current moment, and as a poignant response to the alarming rise of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation sweeping the nation.
Artist submissions are due on June 15, 2024 by 5pm. We welcome 2D, 3D, and electronic media that showcases experiences, emotions, and thoughts on the evolving struggle for LGBTQIA+ rights and representation. Artists located in the United States of all backgrounds, identities, and those exploring all narratives of genderqueerness are invited to apply. This exhibition will be juried by a diverse panel of arts professionals who identify as LGBTQIA+.
More information, dates, and the link to apply can be found here: https://www.rochestercontemporary.org/exhibitions/queering-democracy/
Call For Photography: The Surreal
Surrealism is an artistic exploration of the human psyche, dreams, and the unconscious mind. Through bizarre and fantastical scenes, juxtaposition, or symbolism, we challenge you to capture and present images that defy logic and question the boundary of perception. Invite us to a realm where the conscious and unconscious blur and reality transform into the surreal.
The Surreal is an international open call for photographers ages 18 and older. All forms of two-dimensional images, traditional and non-conventional media, and conventional or alternative processes with a subjective analog or digital photographic base are welcome for submission.
