The art must be created by a person who identifies as female but the work DOES NOT need to reference or allude to images of women or women’s issues. It is certainly OK if they do!
Our curation and presentation of the selected work are exceptional. We promote the artists through social media, print media and email outreach. We create a quality printable catalog of the show and the online shows are archived but accessible after the close of the show. Visit our website to see examples of other online shows:https://www.ohanloncenter.org/exhibits/current/
Both Jurors will be given the same maximum number of works to select. All works independently selected by each juror will be included in the exhibition.
O’Hanlon Center for the Arts emphasizes the creative process and the continued pursuit of meaning and authenticity through observation, exploration, and experimentation.
A portion of the income from submission fees will go to supporting the work of the non-profit MC Arts and Culture in Marin City, CA. Inherent in MCAC’s mission is to support healing of multi-generational trauma by providing safe spaces for Black artists to create, exhibit, teach and connect with other communities. Their vision imagines a world where Black artists heal by creating; and use their talents to uplift families, prosper communities and engage society.

CALL FOR ART DREAMS AND VISIONS
CALL FOR ART
O’Hanlon Gallery Exhibition
July 8 – August 14, 2025
Juried by Toni Littlejohn
Image art by Steve Coleman
DESCRIPTION
Dreams and Visions in art are a familiar motif. Mysterious and otherworldly images can represent our subconscious thoughts, emotions and desires.
Surrealist Artists, and Symbolists, used dreams, free association, and writing to tap into their imagination.
Julie Lageir’s “La Sortie”, Henri Rousseau’s “The Sleeping Gypsy”, Mark Chagall’s “Passage Bleu” depict the surreal nature of images that defy logic and conventional reality. The dream in art is a wandering spirit on the path of the imagination: art that asks us to examine the link between the visible and the invisible.
This exhibit asks you to explore your inner dream state. We encourage your interpretation of this theme.
All mediums welcome. Including video*
* If you do want to submit video, you will need to provide the system for displaying it (monitor no larger than 15”) and earbuds if music is part of the experience. The video will have to automatically run in a loop.
