Donor Experience Paid Summer Internship

About the Internship

Put your left and right brain to work strategically and creatively for Segerstrom Center for the Arts top-notch Development team that fundraises $18 million annually, stewards the donors that make all that possible with a diverse approach including support groups, concierge ticketing and private donor rooms, surprise and delights, and high-profile events.

The Donor Experience team is looking for a highly organized and efficient summer intern. The intern will have varied responsibilities that include assisting with donor stewardship, designing activations for private donor lounges, working with CRM software, event planning, logistics & execution, tracking expenses, and supporting the development team on projects as needed.

This is an in person internship that runs from June 8 – August 3, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist on-site at fast-paced, high-profile events
• Assist in executing a Center Room design project
• Assist in stewardship tasks
• Prepare agendas and documents, collect materials, and complete event briefing packets
• Create and maintain an organization system of event team inventory and supplies
• Assist in creating plans / renewal tracking in Tessitura, the Center’s CRM software
• Assist Special Events Team with organizing event photos in Canto and Flickr
• Track expenses through credit card expense reports and PO system
• Assist with registration at events
• Supply inventory and ordering
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be enrolling in college, currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate
• Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Fluent writing and speaking English
• Previous experience in an administrative role preferred
• Creative and able to incorporate feedback
• A passion for the performing arts is beneficial
• Proficient with Microsoft, including Word for mail-merges, Outlook for scheduling, and Excel
• Strong attention to detail, including proofreading
• Highly organized
• Dedicated to accuracy and precision even when tackling high volumes
• Calm under pressure
• Available to work occasional evenings and weekends
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Frequently perform desk-based computer tasks, use telephone, and write by hand
• Ability to speak clearly with sufficient hearing to communicate effectively 
• Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds for event support
• Physical stamina to be on feet for extended periods of time on event days

Graphic Design Paid Summer Internship

About the Internship

The Graphic Design intern works within the marketing and communications department to assist with visual concepting and production across digital and print platforms, collaborating on materials that align with the Center’s branding and creative vision and support a wide variety of campaigns.

This is an in-person internship that runs from June 15 – August 7, 2026, with a required orientation on June 8, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Work within creative services/graphics (a subgroup of the marketing and communications department) directly mentored by one of the Center’s in-house graphic designers.
• Assist with creating a variety of marketing materials and bringing a vision to life. This could include anything from print materials, postcards, flyers, and posters to digital email campaigns, house program design/layout, and other projects as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be enrolling in college, currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate
• Strong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud required (primarily InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
• Applicants must submit a portfolio of design work showcasing their skills
• Engaging personality and eagerness/willingness to work closely with others
• Creative thinker with good problem-solving skills
• Strong organization skills
• Familiar with working on a Mac OS
• Familiar with other programs a plus: MS Office suite, Slack

General Marketing Paid Summer Internship

About the Internship

The Center’s Marketing and Communications interns work within the marketing and communications department to promote activities at the Center through a variety of integrated campaigns and activities, including online advertising, direct marketing, public relations, and email communications. Interns receive hands-on experience in a variety of marketing tasks and are exposed to the process of creating and implementing the Center’s marketing and public relations strategies.

This is an in person internship that runs from June 8 – July 31, 2026.

Duties & Responsibilities

Intern contributes to overall marketing campaigns from the planning stages to analyzing results and trends. Interns will assist with social media content creation, merchandise design and development, exploring audience trends, conducting show and genre research, assisting with pricing and performance analysis to inform strategic marketing decisions and revenue planning, and helping to shape the Center’s brand storytelling across platforms and audiences.

Qualifications

Seeking a current student or recent grad with a desire to learn about working on arts related marketing campaigns from inception to analysis and implementing data driven solutions. Additionally:

• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Must be enrolling in college, currently enrolled in college or a recent graduate
• Individuals who are studying or have a degree in the following fields are preferred: Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Journalism, Creative Writing, Media Relations, Arts Administration
• Strong organization skills
• Engaging personality with exceptional communication and presentation skills
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Outlook (Survey Monkey and CANVA experience a plus)
• Familiarity with Social Media platforms a plus

Public Relations & Communications Paid Summer Internship

About the Internship

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Summer Public Relations Intern to support our communications team during a fast-paced and high-visibility season. This role is ideal for a strong writer with an outgoing personality who is eager to gain hands-on experience in media relations, press/ media events, and influencer programs. The internship offers exposure to real-world PR work, including press outreach, social media influencer research, and event support, while also contributing to essential behind-the-scenes organizational efforts that keep our team running smoothly.

The Summer PR Intern will work closely with the PR team to assist with day-to-day communications activities, media tracking, influencer program management, and event coordination. This is a learning-focused role with meaningful responsibility, requiring reliability, curiosity, and a willingness to contribute to both high-profile and administrative tasks.

This internship is best suited for someone who is eager to learn, comfortable wearing many hats, and excited to contribute to both the visible and behind-the-scenes work that drives successful campaigns. This is an in person internship from June 15 – August 6, 2026, with a required orientation on June 8.

Duties & Responsibilities

Writing and research

• Assist with drafting press materials, pitches, and internal documents
• Research media outlets, journalists, and social media influencers relevant to our brand
• Assist in implementing internal and external communications strategies, including tactical planning, writing, and execution for projects and programs
• Identify and research new media targets and feature sections
• Draft pitches for lifestyle media; pitching media on a case-by-case basis
• Draft press releases and pitch media on case-by-case basis
• Draft content for various writing needs

Media and influencer management

• Support the ongoing development and tracking of our social media influencer program
• Build, update, and maintain media and influencer master lists
• Track outreach, coverage, and influencer partnerships
• Compile press reports and recap documents

Events and press support

• Assist with event planning, coordination, and on-site support
• Support press junkets and media-related events as needed

Team organization and operations

• Manage tracking documents and press databases
• Maintain event listings and calendars
• Ensure press lists, reports, and internal materials are accurate and up to date
• Support general PR team organization, including tasks that are operational

Qualifications

• Authorized to work in the United States
• At least 18 years of age
• Available to work schedule outlined below:
  • Working towards and/or have a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations Marketing, or a related field
  • Minimum one year communications experience that ideally includes communication planning, research and evaluation, writing and editing for a variety of mediums, basic project management and building media relationships
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office programs
  • Excellent writing and copy-editing skills
  • Team-player who is highly self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Education and Engagement Paid Summer Internship

About the Internship

Segerstrom Center for the Arts is seeking an enthusiastic college student or recent graduate interested in gaining hands-on experience in arts administration and arts education. This internship supports two dynamic summer camp programs and offers meaningful exposure to arts programming, education operations, and youth engagement.

This is an in person internship that runs from June 15 – August 6, 2026, with a required orientation on June 8, 2026. Hours will vary each week – see specific schedule below.

Five Days of Broadway is a five-day intensive program that introduces middle and high school students to musical theater techniques and other aspects of the performing arts. Instruction is led by professional artists and educators, and the program includes two sessions: one for junior high students and one for high school students.

Entering its 35th year, Summer at the Center empowers historically under-resourced high school students through a rigorous two-week musical theater program taught by professional artists. The program is a collaboration between Segerstrom Center for the Arts’ Education and Engagement Department and the Orange County Department of Education.

Duties & Responsibilities

Program & Student Support

• Assist with student check-in/check-out, attendance tracking, and daily transitions
• Monitor classes, rehearsals, lunch periods, and other program activities
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environment
• Serve as a positive role model and point of contact for students

Logistics & Operations

• Prepare, organize, and distribute camp materials and supplies
• Assist with room setup, breakdown, and light equipment movement
• Set up, serve, and clean up meals and refreshments
• Support the care, laundering, and organization of program materials as needed
• Help ensure program spaces and supplies remain organized and stocked
• Support teaching artists and Education and Engagement Department staff as needed

Events & Administrative Support

• Create program collateral including signage, program inserts, and other printed or digital materials
• Assist with culminating showcases, performances, or family events, as applicable
• Complete general administrative and operational tasks as assigned

Qualifications

Required

• Authorized to work in the United States
• At least 18 years of age
• Enrolling in college, currently enrolled in college, or a recent graduate
• Available to work all scheduled program hours
• Basic word processing and computer skills
• Interest in arts education, arts administration, and/or nonprofit work
• Occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds for camp support
