Education Assistant / Studio Manager

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The role of the Education Assistant/Studio Manager is to support the growth and success of BANDALOOP’s local education work and manage studio operations. With the support of the Education Coordinator and Operations Administrator, the Education Assistant/Studio Manager will be responsible for ensuring the success and safety of all local education activities and studio usage. The Education Assistant/Studio Manager will also work closely with the Education Coordinator to build relationships with local community partners and our studio’s West Oakland neighborhood. This role is active year round, with increased high activation periods while the performance company is on tour. The Education Assistant is the public face and voice of BANDALOOP’s education department, regularly interfacing with students in person, through email or on the phone. This position will involve a rotating array of education and studio responsibilities and tasks, all of which will support the continued growth and development of BANDALOOP’s education department and studio program expansion.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Register and invoice students for workshops and classes using Salesforce registration system
2. Teacher support: prepare and organize student information for teachers and assist with teacher scheduling.
3. Support with education focused online website updates using squarespace
4. Generate content for education social media accounts
5. Respond to emails in a timely and professional manner
6. Maintain and cultivate relationships with local community partners and neighbors
7. Send out post-workshop surveys
8. Attend regularly scheduled education meetings
9. Send out education updates to student base using Mailchimp
10. Assist education department alignment with BANDALOOP values and equity goals
11. Field rental email inquiries and respond in a prompt and professional manner
12. Manage studio rental requests, ensure all rental paperwork is completed by renter (invoice, waivers, contracts)
13. Update Bay Area profile; spaces.org as needed
14. Update studio code and all studio documents every 3 months and communicating updates to staff
15. Weekly studio tidying and touch ups

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Experience working in arts administration and/or dance education
2. Exceptional customer service skills interacting with all ages and types of people 3. Excellent oral and written communications skills; English language, grammar, composition, spelling, business correspondence, telephone etiquette
4. Familiarity with Instagram, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Google Drive, Slack and Salesforce and a willingness to learn & adapt
5. Flexibility (ability to engage at odd hours on odd opportunities, attend workshops, performances & meetings)
6. Willingness to work from home or the BANDALOOP studio
7. Commitment to Public Art, and alignment with the BANDALOOP vision, mission, values and program goals.
8. Experience working collaboratively as part of a team AND the ability to self-direct
9. Willingness to learn, be adaptable, give/receive honest feedback and find joy in the work.

** The Education Assistant/Studio Manager is not required to be an artist, dancer, or teacher, but is responsible for familiarizing themselves with BANDALOOP’s work and language to effectively answer questions and concerns.

Electrics Supervisor / Master Electrician

Electrics Supervisor Job Description

The Electrics Supervisor (ES) will implement and maintain lighting designs and other electrical needs for Shotgun Players’ mainstage productions. This includes recruiting and directing a crew of overhire electricians, within budgetary constraints. They will work in collaboration with the Production Manager and other Shotgun staff to ensure a safe and inclusive work environment.

While responsibilities begin in earnest in February, incoming ES will ideally be able to attend paid calls in January or earlier, in order to train for the position.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT/MARIN CENTER: The Department of Cultural Services programs and operates the Marin Center, a 20-acre campus of indoor and outdoor venues that hosts hundreds of events each year. As the major performing arts center, events center, and fairgrounds in Marin County, Marin Center serves the community by hosting a range of performances by local arts groups and national touring acts, art and music festivals, trade shows, corporate banquets, visual art exhibitions, and the 5-day Marin County Fair, attended by more than 100,000 people each year. There is one (1) part-time (0.50 FTE) position in the Department of Cultural Services. The eligible list established from this recruitment will be used to fill the current vacancy and any future vacancies for open, fixed-term, full-time or part-time positions which may occur while the list remains active.

 

Under the direction of the Administrative Services Associate, the Accounting Assistant provides support in a myriad of fiscal areas, including accounting, treasury, revenue billing and collection, accounts receivable, accounts payable, cash handling, payroll, statistical and other financial, fiscal and/or budgetary office support. This position also processes, records, reviews, and reconciles a variety of financial and payroll related transactions and prepares forms and documentation necessary to support the activities of the Department. The general duties and minimum requirements of this position are described in the class specification.  

 

The ideal candidate is organized, dependable, flexible, accurate and able to work both independently and with a professional team. The ideal candidate is an excellent written and verbal communicator and has at least one year of direct experience in customer service with the ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy when dealing with the public and other departmental personnel. Additionally, the ideal candidate has the ability to clearly articulate and document accounting procedures and has at least one year of experience performing accounting functions in a governmental, non-profit, or similarly regulated environment in the private sector. The ideal candidate has experience with cash handling, and working with financial accounting, human capital management and statistical reporting systems.

LYHA’s goal is to provide high quality and reliable art instruction to the after school programs of independent schools across Los Angeles. Our instructors are responsible for implementing LYHA’s curriculum into 60 minute block settings in a classroom provided by our school accounts.

The hours range between 2:30-5:30pm 3-5 days per week, depending on what works for your schedule. Candidates must enjoy working with kids ages 5 – 12 and have the know-how to make learning fun and inspiring while also exhibiting a professional demeanor.

Job Overview
Festival Mozaic is a fast-paced, fun and vital community nonprofit organization that presents performances by internationally renowned classical musicians and popular artists in venues throughout San Luis Obispo County, California.  Now in its 51st year, Festival Mozaic will present approximately one weekend of performances per month from September – May, and a two week festival of over 40+ events during the last two weeks of July 2022.  The Festival features classical orchestra concerts, chamber music concerts, “Notable Encounter” interactive events, fundraiser dinners, free concerts, educational master classes, lectures, and more during the summer festival as well as during the year.

 

The Operations Coordinator will be a key member of the Festival administrative and event support team.  They will oversee all administrative functions of the Festival Mozaic office, including bookkeeping, filing, office supply management, ticketing and development tasks. They will also provide support at special events and in the box office at concerts.  The ideal candidate will have experience working in an office and/or in a customer service setting, be an excellent communicator, and have an interest in classical music or the arts.

 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Administrative & Financial Operations

·         Answer phone calls and general email inquiries. Direct specific inquiries to other staff as necessary.

·         Prepare fundraising and marketing mailings – stuffing envelopes, address labeling, etc.

·         Maintain office filing system.

·         Maintains office supplies, letterhead & stationery, postage meter and other equipment supplies and arranges repair when needed

·         Maintain patron and donor database, periodically de-duplicating and cleaning up records.

·         Prepare financial reports for the Executive Director, board of directors, and accountants as needed.

·         Assist with keeping financial records in QuickBooks.

·         Assist with grant applications and reports.

·         Prepare cash bags for event on-site sales: merchandise, concessions, and at-door ticket sales.

 

Box Office & Event Operations

·         Sell tickets to patrons on the phone and in person at the Festival office.

·         Fulfill complimentary ticket requests from hosts, musicians, and sponsors.

·          Staff the box office window/table at assigned concerts.

·         Serve as event lead at special events: dinners, luncheons, parties, receptions, etc.

·         Coordinate all catering and event rental needs for special events including tables, chairs, linens, flowers/decor, etc.

·         Work with Volunteer Coordinator to arrange hospitality for visiting artists through restaurant and grocery donations or purchases.

·         Arrange for in-kind donations of wine, food, and services. Make sure all in-kind donors are properly acknowledged.

·         Work closely with the General Manager to secure in-home housing for all Festival Mozaic orchestra and chamber artists.

·         Maintain database of all hosts. Perform home visits for potential new hosts.

·         Book hotel and travel for special guest artists.

 

As a small organization, all employees of Festival Mozaic are expected to perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills, Talents, & Abilities
●        Familiarity with Microsoft Office required.

●        Extremely proficient in computer use; comfortable learning new computer programs and technologies.

●        Experience with Google Drive, Dropbox, or other file sharing platforms preferred.

Compensation

International Art Competition Still Life

Contemporary Art Room Gallery is proud to announce their 1st “Still Life” Online Art Competition. Artists from around the world are welcome to submit their work. The theme of this competition requires that artists incorporate either natural objects, such as foods, flowers, plants, rocks, shells, or man-made objects, such as books, vases, jewelry, coins, pipes, etc. We will not consider still-life paintings depicting dead animals or human skulls. All visual art mediums are acceptable (painting, photography, drawing, sculpture, digital, prints, fiber art, collage or installation art) except sound and video art. All winning artists will receive a digital award certificate. First, second and third place will be largely displayed with an article about the artist and their work. First place will be on the poster of the show. $15 for 2 images, $28 for 4, $58 for up to 10. Deadline: November 25, 2021.
