POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The role of the Education Assistant/Studio Manager is to support the growth and success of BANDALOOP’s local education work and manage studio operations. With the support of the Education Coordinator and Operations Administrator, the Education Assistant/Studio Manager will be responsible for ensuring the success and safety of all local education activities and studio usage. The Education Assistant/Studio Manager will also work closely with the Education Coordinator to build relationships with local community partners and our studio’s West Oakland neighborhood. This role is active year round, with increased high activation periods while the performance company is on tour. The Education Assistant is the public face and voice of BANDALOOP’s education department, regularly interfacing with students in person, through email or on the phone. This position will involve a rotating array of education and studio responsibilities and tasks, all of which will support the continued growth and development of BANDALOOP’s education department and studio program expansion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Register and invoice students for workshops and classes using Salesforce registration system
2. Teacher support: prepare and organize student information for teachers and assist with teacher scheduling.
3. Support with education focused online website updates using squarespace
4. Generate content for education social media accounts
5. Respond to emails in a timely and professional manner
6. Maintain and cultivate relationships with local community partners and neighbors
7. Send out post-workshop surveys
8. Attend regularly scheduled education meetings
9. Send out education updates to student base using Mailchimp
10. Assist education department alignment with BANDALOOP values and equity goals
11. Field rental email inquiries and respond in a prompt and professional manner
12. Manage studio rental requests, ensure all rental paperwork is completed by renter (invoice, waivers, contracts)
13. Update Bay Area profile; spaces.org as needed
14. Update studio code and all studio documents every 3 months and communicating updates to staff
15. Weekly studio tidying and touch ups
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Experience working in arts administration and/or dance education
2. Exceptional customer service skills interacting with all ages and types of people 3. Excellent oral and written communications skills; English language, grammar, composition, spelling, business correspondence, telephone etiquette
4. Familiarity with Instagram, Squarespace, Mailchimp, Google Drive, Slack and Salesforce and a willingness to learn & adapt
5. Flexibility (ability to engage at odd hours on odd opportunities, attend workshops, performances & meetings)
6. Willingness to work from home or the BANDALOOP studio
7. Commitment to Public Art, and alignment with the BANDALOOP vision, mission, values and program goals.
8. Experience working collaboratively as part of a team AND the ability to self-direct
9. Willingness to learn, be adaptable, give/receive honest feedback and find joy in the work.
** The Education Assistant/Studio Manager is not required to be an artist, dancer, or teacher, but is responsible for familiarizing themselves with BANDALOOP’s work and language to effectively answer questions and concerns.
