In Word Play, we are looking for artworks that creatively engage with text, whether through words, letters, phrases, or entire narratives. The text can serve as a message, a visual texture, a conceptual element, or even as the main subject. We encourage submissions that explore the interaction between words and image, spanning themes such as language, identity, culture, politics, and beyond.

Located in a spectacular, peaceful setting at the base of Mount Tamalpais and surrounded by redwood and oak trees, O’Hanlon Center for the Arts (OHCA) is a well-established creative haven for artists and writers, having a 50+ year history in Marin County. Just across the Golden Gate Bridge, OHCA occupies 3 acres in a quiet neighborhood in Mill Valley one mile to downtown with easy access to many of the world-renowned hiking and mountain biking trails on Mount Tam.
Our location provides artists of all disciplines to explore, create and reflect on your creative process away from the hectic demands and constraints of daily life while still being able to take advantage of the conveniences a vibrant town that hosts three other exceptional art galleries and three live performance and theater venues. Being able to work in a private, natural setting provides artists an unparalleled opportunity to step away from distractions and focus on their work. If more stimulation is desired, we are just a 20-minute drive to San Francisco and Oakland.
As the residency is intended to be a working retreat, partners/spouses, family and pets are not permitted.
Our residency supports and encourages a collaborative atmosphere among fellow Artists in residence as well as with the membership of O’Hanlon Center for the Arts. We welcome a broad range of creative endeavors. For 2025 we are focusing on the written word.
OHCA has evening gatherings, discussions, and exchanges with various Bay Area artists at the Center and online. The residency will conclude with a day or evening open studio event. This event will be open to all OHCA members and the wider Bay Area community.

Job Summary:
The Foundation seeks an experienced Public Engagement Associate adept in communications, content creation, and event management to join our start-up team. The Public Engagement Associate will work to manage the Minnesota Street Project Foundation website, newsletters, social media accounts, create organizational materials, and support public events, exhibitions, and programming. This position will require a strong writer and storyteller. The Public Engagement Associate will work to craft the written and visual messages shared by the Foundation and bring consistency to the Foundation voice. Key to the role will be an attention to detail, experience in content creation, and creativity in approach. The Public Engagement Associate will possess a friendly and approachable demeanor with all clients, staff, visitors, artists and vendors, acting as a positive ambassador for the Foundation.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Act as an ambassador for the Foundation in all activities – often this will include stakeholder communications, vendor communications, campus tours, and community events among other opportunities.
- Create and maintain editorial calendar to showcase the Foundation mission, vision, values, artist stories, production stories, upcoming events, and impact.
- Create content for social media channels, newsletters, organizational materials, and events.
- Manage Squarespace, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Eventbrite, Paperless Post and other communications technology.
- Collaborate with Public Relations contractors and Graphic Designers as needed.
- Devise and implement data systems and project management tools using best practices.
- Support community-initiated programming logistics in all Foundation buildings.
- Refine communication operations as needed to optimize productivity, sustainability and growth.
- Assist in preparation, setup and breakdown for performances, screenings, artists talks and other events.
- Serve as event support staff on occasion including greeting, docent duties and opening/closing procedures.
Required Skills, Abilities, and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in organizational content creation and editorial workflow.
- Demonstrated experience with editing tools and editorial software.
- Experience with A/V equipment a plus.
- Able to communicate clearly, take direction, and ask for assistance, as needed.

Job Summary:
The Foundation seeks an experienced Studio and Technology Manager adept at artist facilities technology, operational project management, and programmatic support to join our start-up team. The Studio and Technology Manager will work alongside the Executive Director to manage and oversee the Artist Studios Program, located at 1240 Minnesota Street, as well as the facilities spaces therein. The shared facilities include a kiln, wet dark room, digital print lab, woodshop, risograph printer, printing press, staging gallery and storage, all of which are used regularly by the participating 50+ artists, collaborators and assistants. The Studio and Technology Manager will support the long-term artist leads who already maintain these facility spaces and will collaborate cross-functionally with the campus operations team. The Studio and Technology Manager will also manage and support the technological needs at the Exhibition Warehouse, located at 1201 Minnesota Street, inside which the Foundation regularly hosts and produces public exhibitions and programs. The Exhibition Warehouse has a unique, custom-built screening gallery with state-of-the-art A/V equipment. This role will be equal parts artist facilities support, technology support, and event implementation. The Foundation seeks a creative independent thinker who can manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Essential Responsibilities:

Art Workshops for SF-based CMHO
Hello! Westside Community Services is a CMHO, and the Clubhouse Program is one of our services. At the Clubhouse, we provide psychosocial rehabilitation in the service of our members, adults who struggle with mental illness. We are looking for artists to provide 1 hour workshops to 10-15 people at our site in SOMA, San Francisco. These could be a single workshop or a series of workshops, with the goal of a finished project at the end of the workshop/s. We are specifically looking for artists who can create and facilitate a collaborative project, where each member contributes their work to create a greater whole. Stage Manager
The African-American Shakespeare Company is seeking a Stage Manager for our current production, Shaxspeare Reimagined. The production is already in rehearsal, and we are looking to fill this position immediately.
Position Details:
Pay: $20-25 per hour (depending on experience)
Rehearsals: Tuesday-Friday, 6 PM – 10 PM; Sunday, 10 AM – 4 PM; some Saturdays as scheduled
Tech Week: March 6th-13th
Performances: March 14th-30th (Fridays-Sundays)
Additional Shows:
Shakespeare Reimagined – Student Matinee show at 11am on March 27th
Requirements:
Prior stage management experience preferred
Strong organizational and communication skills
Ability to manage schedules, call cues, and oversee backstage operations
