Title: Controller

About the role: Atthowe Fine Art Services is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Controller to support our Finance team. As a sole proprietorship founded by Scott Atthowe in the 1970s and continuing as an employee-owned California cooperative founded in 2021, Atthowe Fine Art Services has a proud history of stewardship and collaborative problem-solving for the needs of artworks and cultural treasures. We value transparency, shared responsibility, and thoughtful stewardship—principles that make accurate and timely financial information essential to our work. The role requires a high degree of coordination, administrative rigor, and knowledge of accounting systems and programs, as well as an understanding that numbers tell important stories about people and projects. Ideal candidates will bring strong accounting fundamentals, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and experience in or curiosity about the arts, construction, small business, and/or cooperative principles. As is common in a collaborative small-business environment, the Controller will occasionally work beyond the traditional boundaries of accounting, so flexibility, initiative, and a willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced, client-focused setting are keys to success.

The City of Ontario, California is launching a new temporary public art initiative titled “The People’s Storefront”. This initiative is a paid opportunity that invites artists to showcase their original works of art to be printed on vinyl for glass storefronts along the historic Euclid Avenue corridor.
This project is open to artists based in Southern California within a 40-mile radius of the City of Ontario, with a strong encouragement for local Ontario-based artists and artists residing in San Bernardino County.
Each artist selected will be paid $3,500 for use of their artwork and participation.

EXHIBITIONS MANAGER – Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Exhibitions Manager works on all aspects of exhibition preparation, logistics, art handling, and other duties for all ICA San Diego locations. The Exhibitions Manager will plan and oversee the execution of all fabrication and production needs related to the ICA San Diego’s exhibition program and outdoor sculpture collection. They will also oversee the hiring and management of Preparators and external vendors for curatorial needs. The Exhibitions Manager reports to the Curator.

This role will work within the exhibition spaces, storage spaces, and office environments at both our North and Central locations. Some prolonged periods of sitting in front of a computer should be expected. During installation/de-installation times, standing, bending, lifting, climbing on ladders, using heavy equipment, and power tools will be required. Travel
Travel throughout the San Diego region will be required. Occasional travel to other locations may be required.
Compensation
Hourly rate will be $28-29/hr. A typical shift is 8 hours, weekdays between 9am and 5pm, some weekends and evenings as needed. Benefits include $450 monthly toward medical insurance premium, 120 hours paid time off for the first year, eleven paid holidays in a calendar year, staff appreciation days, discounts at select Balboa Park restaurants and shops, and free admission to member museums.

Campus Operations Intern
Campus Operations encompasses all aspects of facilities and operations, including production, event operations, engineering, security, theater arts administration, capital project planning, project management, and settlement financials. An internship in theater operations will de-mystify the “behind-the-scenes” aspect of what it takes to operate a performing arts facility. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with the Center’s staff in areas including show preparation, backstage operations, event installation, special events and rental procedures, building security, and facilities maintenance. Due to the variety of shows and events at the Center, interns should be available on nights and weekends.

Studio D Intern
Studio D, part of the Education and Engagement Department, is a dance, music, and theater program for students of all abilities, including those with cognitive or physical disabilities. Classes are offered at the Center and at various off-site locations (therapy centers, schools, etc.). The Studio D intern will assist with recurring administrative tasks related to our Spring session, learning more about the overall functionality and structure of a recreational arts program. Additionally, they will support in the studio as a teaching assistant in a set number of classes per internship. They will also support new initiatives and research as we deepen our work within the arts and disabilities communities. A background in arts education is preferred, and knowledge in inclusive programming is a plus. Ability to speak more than one language is preferred but not required.
