Busy art studio seeks an organized and professional individual with studio and/or gallery experience to join a motivated and highly committed team as a full-time Studio Assistant.
The Studio Assistant assists in all projects, working closely with the artist and Studio Director on exhibitions, speaking engagements, publications, and the studio’s archives. The Studio Assistant will oversee registrar duties, including managing the studio’s database and tracking the movement of artwork, and assists with shipping arrangements as needed. This position is expected to effectively and professionally communicate with galleries, museums, collectors, and vendors. They will also support social media and the studio’s online presence.
Qualifications of the position include 4+ years of studio, gallery, or museum experience, and the ability to perform or learn the duties and responsibilities of the job. Photoshop skills are required, as is the ability to create studio documents, PDFs, and presentation materials efficiently and accurately with little or no supervision. Superb attention to detail and a “can-do” attitude are required.

LPA Design Studios is planning the installation of two murals within our new San Diego office in Liberty Station.
The murals are intended to inspire our staff and visitors about design, sustainability, process, and community.

LPA is an integrated, multi-disciplined design firm with six offices across California and Texas, providing sustainable
design for educational, mixed use, workplace, healthcare, and civic facilities.

Location Description:
There are 2 mural locations that you can submit designs for; you can submit for one or both mural locations.
One mural location will be on two walls of the open stair at the main entry lobby of LPA’s San Diego studio located
in Liberty Station. The walls will be clearly visible from the exterior of the entrance on the main central lawn, and
internally within the studio on both levels. This mural will be viewed by LPA staff, visitors, clients, and the public
passing by. The mural will be directly mounted or painted on a painted concrete surface substrate. The main wall
facing the entry door is approximately 11’ in length and 16’ in height. The side wall along the elevator vestibule is
approximately 15’ in length and 22’ in height. Please see the attached plan highlighting this location and use the

The other mural location will be on the main breakroom wall above/surrounding the millwork. The wall will be clearly
visible from the exterior walkway on the main central lawn, as well as internally within the first level of the studio. The

painted on a flat drywall surface substrate. The main forward-facing wall is approximately 25’-6” in length and 3’-5”

Project Description:
The media and technique are undecided, it is expected that each mural will occupy the majority if not the entirety of
the wall surfaces. Artists can propose on one or both mural locations.
Media:
Mural media should be up to the discretion of the artist. Appropriateness of the media as it relates to the concept
matter is highly encouraged.
Selection Process:
A panel comprised of LPA leadership and staff will judge the submissions. Judging will be based upon creativeness
and appropriateness for the location.
Timeline:
01/05/2023: Deadline for the Request for Qualifications. The RFQ should illustrate the artists relevant work, provide
references and a narrative describing the artists approach to there work. The RFQ should not be project specific. A
list of 3 finalists per mural location will be selected by 1/9/2023 to develop conceptual proposals for both or each
individual mural.
01/19/2023: Finalists will present their conceptual proposals to the selection committee via Microsoft Teams
meeting or in-person if preferred.
Sales Associate
The MOCA Store Sales Associate provides customer service, completes sales transactions, maintains the physical appearances of stores, and completes opening and closing procedures. The Sales staff follows daily performance guidelines provided by management and are expected to work collegially as part of the Retail Operations Department.
This is a part-time position requiring you to work onsite. Weekend work will be required.
Essential Functions:
- Work closely with the Sales Manager, Retail Coordinator, Webstore, Shipping Coordinator, and fellow Sales Associates.
- Use your creative eye to maintain unique shop displays.
- Interact positively with museum staff, donors, and museum visitors.
- Meet and greet customers.
- Guide and assist customers with sales of our unique selection of products and publications.
- Grow knowledge of art books and products.
- Operate Point of Sale cash registers with accuracy and process special orders.
- Complete clear and accurate end of day sales reports.
- Maintain communication with supervisors and colleagues.
- Assist in all aspects of keeping the MOCA Store looking smart, sophisticated, interesting and well organized.
- Promote sales of Museum Memberships through the Store and process appropriate paperwork. Interact with the public and answer or direct questions regarding the Museum.
- Have a neat and professional appearance according to MOCA Store dress code.
Requirements:
- Effective customer service-oriented interpersonal skills.
- Promptness and reliability are essential.
- Accuracy in cash handling.
- Prior retail experience is preferred.
- Availability to work Saturdays or Sundays, plus two additional weekdays with the opportunity to work additional hours.

Call for Art – Ocean Creatures
The City of Santa Clarita is seeking artwork for consideration for an upcoming exhibit at First Floor Gallery. Santa Clarita Arts is seeking artwork depicting any existing ocean creature for this art exhibition. Applicants may submit artwork in their chosen medium as long as it can be mounted to a wall. This includes but is not limited to paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, and textiles. The City of Santa Clarita utilizes a particular wiring system that requires all artwork to be WIRED to safely hang. Sculptural pieces will be accepted for consideration. Mailed artwork will NOT be accepted. Artwork must be physically dropped off on the agreed-upon date. This call is open to LA County, surrounding areas, and those willing to drop off. Artwork exceeding 25 pounds in weight will not be accepted. This project is open to all artists, regardless of race, color, religion, natural origin, gender, age, military status, sexual orientation, marital status, or physical or mental disabilities. Artist teams are eligible to apply, including teams of artists from multiple disciplines.

Call for Artwork: Rotating Art in the Mill Valley Depot Plaza
The City of Mill Valley and the Mill Valley Arts Commission are seeking artists to showcase their art as part of this project by creating Public Art to be placed throughout the City of Mill Valley. The goal of this project is to enhance the beauty and vibrancy of Mill Valley, showcase artists and their work to a broader segment of the community, and bring art to unexpected places. The City’s intent is to have rotating art in various locations, starting with The Depot on the Downtown Plaza.
Eligibility
All entries must be an original design and meet dimensions of 4’ W x 8’ H, include all items required in the application packet, and artwork must be suitable for viewing by all ages and be able to withstand weather elements as all artwork will be displayed outdoors.
While all artists and ages are invited to apply for this program, priority will be given to artists who either live or work in the City of Mill Valley or greater Mill Valley area. Student artists are also strongly encouraged to apply. Artists may enlist assistants or art instructors to help them complete their artwork.
Each chosen artist will receive a $500 stipend from the Mill Valley Arts Commission.

California State Summer School for the Arts
2023 Summer Session
The California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA), in collaboration with the CSSSA Board of Trustees, announces a Request for Applications (RFA) for the Visual Arts Chair position within the CSSSA program. The Visual Arts Chair position is a contracted position which will oversee the Visual Arts Program for CSSSA, develop and implement the visual arts curriculum, courses, and visual arts pedagogy, and instruct courses. Program Overview
Enabling legislation, Chapter 1131 of 1985, established the California State Summer School for the Arts (CSSSA) to provide a training ground for future artists who may wish to study and practice the arts, or to pursue careers in the major performing arts companies and commercial and fine arts institutions in California.
CSSSA offers pre-professional training to approximately 500 talented and gifted high school students each summer, hosted by CalArts in Valencia, California for the 2023 summer session. CSSSA offers seven disciplines, including Animation, Dance, Film, Music, Theater, Visual Arts, and Writing. The 2023 summer session runs from July 8th to August 4th.

Scope of Work
The Visual Arts Chair will be contracted to provide the following services:
• Participate in the recruitment and interviewing of potential faculty and TAs.
• Ensure that the CSSSA contract analyst has complete contract information for each of the department’s hires.
• Participate in the screening, selection, and scheduling process of Visual Arts students.
• Create detailed supply orders for the entire Visual Arts Department with estimates from competing vendors.
• Oversee the Visual Arts curriculum, including courses and Visual Arts pedagogy.
• Reside on campus during the summer session and supervise the work of full-time, part time faculty, and visiting artists while the program is in session.
• Instruct courses, and chair faculty meetings.
• Monitor student academic / artistic progress, as well as department policies for obtaining college credits.
• Work with faculty and CSSSA’s staff to resolve student conduct, and other student affairs issues.
• Work with other department chairs and faculty to develop an interdisciplinary and/or multi-disciplinary program.
Contract Status
The Visual Arts Chair is to be paid on a contractual basis and is not considered a state employee. The contract is preset by the CSSSA. The contract amount is a comparable level set by the California State University System.
The Chair will report directly to the Director of CSSSA. The contract starting date will be immediately upon hire.
Selection Process
Section 8955 of the California Education Code requires that faculty of the CSSSA Program be annually selected, subject to the final approval of the Director of the CSSSA , and by the CSSSA Board of Trustees, upon consultation with a faculty selection panel convened by the CSSSA Board for that purpose. The faculty selection panel shall be composed of professional artists and arts educators, selected to be broadly representative of the schools, institutions, arts organizations, artists, colleges, and universities located throughout the state. Members of the CSSSA Board of Trustees may serve on the faculty selection panel, but shall comprise no more than one-third of any faculty selection panel.
Upon review of submitted applications by the Selection Committee, select candidates will be contacted for an interview. The Selection Committee may request a second interview with the CSSSA Board of Trustees before the finalist is chosen.
The Visual Arts Chair shall be chosen for their excellence in artistic production, direction, and / or teaching ability.
