Venice Arts is seeking a creative educator to teach our Advanced Photography Workshop for high school aged youth. The ideal candidate can lead in-person photography workshops with a project-based approach that centers on experiential learning. Along with teaching, this position would be instrumental in building a creative community environment and mentoring for young photographers. Ideal candidates should have an interest and a passion for working with under-resourced and underserved youth. They should have knowledge or interest in developing their ability to engage with students from a trauma-informed and culturally competent lens. Finally, candidates will also have a deep appreciation for diverse perspectives and experiences, and will use these qualities to create a welcoming environment for all students.
Venice Arts provides templates, examples and 1:1 support to help each teacher craft a fun and exciting workshop. ● Must have a foundational understanding of visual storytelling
● Must have experience with digital DSLR cameras and basic lighting equipment

Fall 2026: From September 5 to December 5 + Community Day, December 12
Spring 2027: From February 6 to May 1 + Community Day, May 8
Consideration for rehire is based on performance and availability. Additional hours include training, syllabus development and 1:1 meetings with the Director of Education. Workshop assignments and schedules will be based on experience, availability, and the organization’s needs each term.
Compensation
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Entry level teaching artists begin with a teaching rate of $30 per hour. Class prep, syllabus writing (up to 8 hours), and mandatory training are paid at an administrative rate of $25/hour. For every 2 hours of classroom teaching you are paid for 3 hours of teaching and 1 hour of prep for a total of 4 hours per class at a starting rate of $115 per class session.
Application Requirements
Please fill out an application and attach a resume and one-page cover letter outlining your relevant experience, and a brief workshop idea; a couple sentences about a theme/topic that inspires you and the final project students would be working to complete. THE JURY FOR SNAPPED-2026
Natalie Saprykina is a Bay Area–based art advisor and founder of White on White Gallery, a nomadic gallery offering access to emerging and mid-career artists through private exhibitions and curated collector programs. She works closely with collectors to build thoughtful, lasting relationships with art, while supporting artists in a talent agent–like role.
Michael Endicott has been a full time San Francisco Bay area photographer since 2013. His primary focus is on the interaction between humans and nature. His pieces are layered stories with room for the viewer to uniquely interpret. Light, shadows, textures and colors are what catch his eye and then serve as the tools for his sculptural process. Most recently his abstract realism was part of shows in the de Young Museum and the Triton Museum of Art. He was the Director of Edge of Frame Gallery in San Francisco 2016 – 2020.

Surrealism is an artistic exploration of the human psyche, dreams, and the unconscious mind. Through bizarre and fantastical scenes, juxtaposition, or symbolism, we challenge you to capture and present images that defy logic and question the boundary of perception. Invite us to a realm where the conscious and unconscious blur and reality transform into the surreal. The Surreal is an international open call for photographers ages 18 and older. All images, traditional and non-conventional media, and conventional or alternative photographic processes with an analog or digital photographic base are welcome for submission.

The Art of Abandonment explores abandoned and rediscovered objects, locations, and structures. Through the captured image, we can glimpse the memory of ourselves: and our surroundings and preserve them before being lost to time and place. What do these structures and ephemera convey about humanity as we leave them to decay? What is the essence of time and place, and whom or what are we abandoning?
