The National Museum is based in historic Little Tokyo neighborhood, adjacent to the Metro Gold Line in the Little Tokyo/Arts district in downtown Los Angeles.
The Human Resources Assistant provides support to the HR & Volunteer Services Office to securely maintaining personnel files, volunteer records, finance files and documents of the institution. Assists with recruitment activities, benefits administration, worker’s compensation, personnel files, database management, payroll and other administrative related tasks to support the departments. Position is temporary with funding through June 2024.
Requires familiarity with online recruitment platforms, full cycle recruitment activities, CA Labor law and dealing with confidential matters. Assist with processing payroll and updating employee information in third party software. Assist with updating volunteer records and database. Must be able to work cross-departmentally with confidential materials. Bachelors in Human Resources, Business Management or Finance and minimum of 2 years of relevant experience as a HR generalist/administration. Prior work in a museum or non-profit highly desired. Ability to multi-task and prioritize. Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines. Experience working in a diverse, multi-cultural environment preferable. Proficiency with MS Office, familiarity with databases, payroll software, Gmail & Google suite preferred. Requires occasional evening and/or weekend hours. Director of Strategic Giving – Full Time, Exempt
The Director of Strategic Giving is responsible for management and expansion of the major gifts and planned giving programs; managing relationships and securing support from donors who are capable of making gifts of $25,000+ focusing on strategic multi-year principal gifts of $100,000 or more. Will manage a personal portfolio of 35-50 prospects and a team of two major gifts officers.
The individual will work with Chief Development Officer to develop and implement a plan for expanded major gift/planned giving fundraising and promote the acquisition of major and planned gifts as well significant leadership gifts ($100,000 and above) and will serve as a member of development leadership playing a key leadership role in the execution of the organization’s comprehensive campaign.
The successful candidate will be someone with a rich development background, who has had progressive and successful experience in major/planned gifts and campaign experience. The ideal candidate should have a track record of management experience and coaching orientation and commitment to mentoring major gifts officers. The individual will be able to bridge frontline fundraising techniques with the organization’s priorities and key initiatives. The candidate will have a passion for the mission and be able to translate that into relationship building activities that demonstrate success.
Bachelors degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and development experience. At least 5-7 years of management experience in development and major gifts. Experience working with high-level donors, volunteers and colleagues on collaborative activities. Experience with campaigns, planned giving and major gift solicitation. Knowledge of Japanese American history and culture a plus. Proficiency with MS Office, Google Calendar and Gmail preferred. Development database, Raisers Edge and/or Altru experience desired. The Japanese American National Museum is recognized as one of the nation’s premier cultural museums and its permanent collections has over 150,000 objects that chronicle the Japanese American experience in its entirety from early immigration to the present. JANM is a Smithsonian affiliate and AAM accredited. In support of the National Parks Service Japanese American Confinement Sites-funded collections digitization grant, the JANM Collections Management & Access department (CMA) seeks a digitization specialist to advance digitization and make the digital assets and accompanying metadata available in TMS Collections as well as through eMuseum, JANM’s web-publishing platform. Position is temporary with funding through June 2023.
Minimum 2 years of experience working in a museum or library, preferably working with an artifact or archival collection. High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with digitization processes: digital photography, scanning and image editing is essential. Understanding of cataloging standards for artifacts and archival materials. Knowledge of collections management databases. Able to maintain positive relations with a wide variety of internal and external constituents. 2022 Cultural Arts Funding – Supporting the Arts in Laguna Beach
The City of Laguna Beach is offering grants to non-profit organizations with the primary purpose and experience in presenting arts programming. Programming must be presented in Laguna Beach. The grant would fund programming undertaken between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023.
The purpose of the funding is to create quality cultural art experiences that benefit guests that stay overnight at Laguna Beach hotels while improving the experience for residents. The funds available support art projects that promote tourism and related events.

Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Financial Analyst is responsible for supporting a wide range of financial services such as budget, financial, or resource analysis projects, preparing complex analysis to understand past performance and determine present and future performance and/or resource allocations. The position supports maintenance of the department chart of accounts or other data management tools, and related business processes. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will be involved in developing, interpreting, and implementing financial concepts for financial planning, resource planning (dollars), and control of the organizational budget. The Financial Analyst may also analyze and prepare recommendations for financial plans, including annual resource allocations, future requirements, and operating forecasts. Lastly, the Financial Analyst will collaborate with other functional areas within the unit providing budget analysis and reporting.
