San Diego Youth Symphony (SDYS) is pleased to announce a year-long search for a new Music
Director to succeed retiring Music Director Jeff Edmons. This role will be a champion for music
education in San Diego County and a visible member of the SDYS leadership team. S/he is
responsible, in partnership with the President & CEO, for setting the artistic direction of the
organization and providing artistic and administrative leadership that helps the organization achieve
its mission and goals, and position itself for a dynamic future.

The Music Director is an essential collaborative role in the SDYS organization, and we seek an outstanding musician, educator, and leader to be a part of this historic and dynamic organization. The Music Director will be active and visible in the community, serve as one of the primary spokespeople for SDYS, and will set both a personal and artistic example for the organization. QUALIFICATIONS

Operations Associate

The Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera (SP&O) is currently accepting applications for the part-time position of
Operations Associate. The SP&O’s mission is to foster community, inspire creativity, and enrich lives through symphonic
and opera music. We look to be a collaborative leader in the cultural growth of the Greater Sacramento Region.

We are looking for a creative and artistically engaged person to join our Operations Team. As the Operations Associate
you will support the planning and implementation of Orchestra, Opera, and Community Engagement programs. The
position will report directly to the Director of Operations and Community Engagement and will collaborate with the
entire production team.

COMPENSATION: $18-$20 an hour
HOURS: 25 hours per week, will require some work on evenings and weekends in conjunction with
rehearsals and performances.

JOB DESCRIPTION
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations and Community Engagement
SUPERVISES: Production Assistants and Interns
JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Associate supports the Director of Operations and Community Engagement
(DOCE) in executing the mission of the Sacramento Philharmonic & Opera (SP&O) by helping
implement the day-to-day activities of orchestra and opera operations and supporting
community engagement and education activities.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The following list summarizes the potential duties and responsibilities, and can be modified at any time by the Director
of Operations and Community Engagement:

General
 • Work closely with the DOCE to implement the annual plan for all organizational activities
 • Work closely with the Personnel Manager and Librarian to make rehearsals and performances successful
 • Build and foster good relationships with other arts organizations and non-profits
 • Assist the DOCE in the management of the production schedule for each season
 • Be aware of and familiar with all Union agreements in place with SP&O
 • Assist the DOCE with hiring contracts and other needed LOAs or MOUs
 • Help ensure timely distribution of payroll information, checks, and reimbursements

Orchestra Operations
 • Work with the Stage Manager to administer all needs of the orchestra, including facility and equipment rental,
staging requirements, and other logistical arrangements prior to rehearsal and at the concert hall
 • Work with the Stage Manager to supervise orchestra setup for rehearsals and performances; coordinate with
the Guest Conductor regarding any special setup requirements
 • Attend rehearsals and performances
 • Arrive backstage early to check all preparations
 • During rehearsals, performances, etc., respond to orchestra musician requests, problems, and issues working
with the Personnel Manager and Librarian as needed and keeping the DOCE informed when not present
 • Work with the DOCE to coordinate logistical arrangements for all special events and projects

Opera Production
 • Help the DOCE to implement and maintain a production calendar and timelines for technical and design staff
 • Help administer all production activities, including facility and equipment rental, staging requirements, and
other logistical arrangements
 • Support Production Stage Manager in creation of daily schedules during rehearsals and performances
 • Coordinate effective communication among guest directors, designers, and all members of the production staff
 • Help the DOCE organize all necessary production meetings
 • Prepare production materials for incoming staging staff
 • Finalize production archive information, including archival recordings
 • Ensure production standards during run of performances
 • Create and assure adherence to production deadlines for new productions

Community Engagement/Outreach/Education
 • Help manage materials for Committee meetings
 • Support the development of programs; both in programs for and collaborations with the SP&O
 • Establish relationships with the School districts, school boards, PTA, principals, and teachers in the area
 • Help maintain a calendar of relevant city council, arts commission, and other local/state governmental agency

Director of Development

Los Angeles Children’s Chorus (LACC) seeks an energetic, strategic, and experienced fundraising professional to join the organization as Director of Development and oversee all contributed revenue generation efforts. The Director of Development will be a key member of LACC’s senior leadership team and will devise, implement, and manage strategies to grow the number of funders, cultivate external relationships, and expand overall contributed revenue.

The Director of Development will report to and work closely with LACC’s Executive Director, manage the Chorus’s contract grant writer, and lead staff, Board, and volunteers in achieving ambitious fundraising goals in support of LACC’s music education and performance programs. An individual with great enthusiasm for LACC’s commitment to inspiring and changing lives through music will find the work of this position to be enormously rewarding.

Responsibilities:

Strategy Development

·       Provide strategic leadership in the planning, execution, and management of LACC’s development efforts, including individual giving, special events, corporate and foundation relations, capital initiatives, planned giving, in-kind giving, and other new initiatives.

·       Develop and execute annual and multi-year fundraising plans with specific, quantifiable goals across all contributed revenue streams.

·       Participate in long-range strategic planning and ongoing strategy development with key stakeholders, including the Artistic Director, Executive Director, and Board of Directors.

Donor Engagement

·       Serve as one of LACC’s primary external ambassadors; develop and maintain close relationships with LACC’s family of supporters, including the Board of Directors, individual donors, corporate sponsors, institutional funders, and community leaders, and new prospects in each category.

·       Cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major individual donors and prospects, with an average of 4–6 donor visits each month.

Special Events

·       Oversee the planning, management, and execution of LACC’s annual spring fundraising gala in partnership with the Executive Director, Development Committee, and Gala Committee.

·       Conceptualize, plan, and run smaller cultivation, stewardship, and revenue-generating events throughout the year.

Corporate and Foundation Relations

·       Collaborate with LACC’s grant writer to identify new funding opportunities and secure significant foundation and governmental support.

·       Play a key role in managing relationships with existing institutional funders, including attending funder-organized events from time to time.

·       Build and steward relationships with corporate entities in a variety of sectors to secure monetary and in-kind support for programming and special events.

Communications

·       In concert with the Executive Director and Artistic Director, develop key messaging that is clear, comprehensive, and compelling in presenting an inspiring story about LACC’s mission, work, and dual commitments to artistic and educational excellence.

·       Collaborate effectively across the organization to ensure opportunities for strategic collaboration between fundraising initiatives and programmatic, marketing, and performance activities, in alignment with the broader organizational vision.

Other

·       Create and manage the development budget – set quarterly and annual goals, track progress, and oversee the creation of monthly reports for Executive Director and Development Committee.

·       Serve as primary liaison to the Board of Directors’ Development Committee; equip, mobilize, and support Directors as they fulfill their development responsibilities and play an integral role in the overall success of LACC’s fundraising efforts.

·       Oversee gift processing and acknowledgment processes, assuring timely correspondence, efficient internal systems, accurate record-keeping, fulfillment of funder benefits/recognition, and monthly reconciliation with LACC’s finance department.

·       Keep abreast of the latest research and trends in philanthropy, particularly those pertaining to the performing arts and music education.

·       Attend LACC performances; represent LACC at various civic, cultural, and other public events.

·       Other duties as determined by the Executive Director.


Required Qualifications:

·       Bachelor’s Degree, and 5+ years progressively responsible experience in non-profit fundraising, preferably in the arts and culture sector.

·       Exceptional writing, organizational, and interpersonal skills, including the ability to speak persuasively about LACC’s mission and work.

·       Highly organized and systems-oriented with strengths in delegation, volunteer, and resource management.

·       Polished, personable, donor-centric demeanor in all communications.

·       Good sense of judgment, tact, and diplomacy.

·       A highly motivated self-starter, with the ability to work both collaboratively as part of a close-knit team and independently.

·       Ability to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously with a keen attention to detail.

·       Adept computer skills, including fluency in MS Office, experience with SaaS software and customer relationship managements databases (LACC uses Patron Manager).

·       Passion for the performing arts, particularly classical music and music education.

·       Valid California Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.


Preferred Experience:

·       Experience devising, implementing, and managing individual and institutional fundraising efforts, including experience with all facets of the donor cycle – from prospecting through to post-giving stewardship.

·       Experience managing a portfolio of major individual donors, with a demonstrable track record of successfully soliciting five- and six-figure gifts.

·       Event planning experience, including interfacing with vendors and negotiating contracts.

·       Knowledge of the Los Angeles philanthropic community.


Position:

The Director of Development is a full-time, exempt position that will be based at LACC’s office in Pasadena. In addition to a hybrid in-office/from-home schedule with regular business hours Monday–Friday, some weekend and evening hours throughout the year will be required for performances, meetings, and other events.


Compensation:
Salary range for this position is $90,000 – $105,000, depending on experience. Compensation package includes 100% employer-sponsored health, dental, and vision insurance and generous paid time off.

About Los Angeles Children’s Chorus

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES: The Marketing Associate reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the Symphony’s Marketing Consultant, to execute the following duties:

  • Work with Development and Marketing teams to execute a comprehensive Berkeley Symphony communications plan
  • Provide on-site administrative support to the Berkeley Symphony marketing consulting team
  • Provide hands-on event support (performances, receptions, et al) and represent marketing on-site
  • Manage projects with third-party vendors, including graphic designers, printers, mail houses, photographers, videographers, and media channels, as needed
  • Administer an ongoing organic social media campaign including content creation and execution under the direction of the Marketing Consultant
  • Provide on-site database support including data gathering and analysis, and coordination and analysis of audience surveys
  • Write copy for fundraising appeals when needed
  • Proofread and suggest edits for all Berkeley Symphony communications and program books
  • Coordinate on-site photo and video shoots under the direction of the Marketing Consultant
  • Manage the Berkeley Symphony photo and video archive; distribute photo and video assets to marketing stakeholders as needed
  • Coordinate and execute Facebook Live interviews during concert weeks
  • Gather and organize composer, artist bios and photos, and other necessary assets
  • Collaborate with the graphic designer, advertising sales representative, and Patron Services Manager on the coordination and publication of concert programs
  • Generate mailing lists and coordinate production of print materials
  • Support Patron Services Manager on website updates (WordPress), subscription campaigns, database maintenance, and patron engagement, as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

STATUS AND HOURS: The Marketing Associate is a non-exempt employee who works part-time, 20 hours per week on average. Additional hours are required, including occasional evenings and weekends, for concerts and events. The Marketing Associate must be available to work in our downtown Berkeley office on a regular basis with the option of working remotely with prior approval. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline
  • Proficient with Excel and other Microsoft Office programs
  • Familiarity with database and CRM platforms and basic data analysis

Cantare Con Vivo (CCV) is an intergenerational, non-profit choral music organization encompassing adult choirs, classroom music education and after-school choirs. CCV’s vision is to inspire people to live in harmony, treating one another with dignity. Overview:

Cantare seeks a seasoned professional who is a strong leader and manager, is an effective communicator, and committed to our core principles of racial justice and equity. S/he/they will be a relationship builder and have a track record of extensive experience in fundraising and business administration, helping grow and further amplify our vibrant choral programs for youth and adults. The successful candidate will partner with the Artistic Director, Director of Music Education, and Director of Children’s and Youth Choirs to develop an integrated fundraising and marketing and communications strategy, as well as achieve CCV’s progressive funding and organizational growth goals. The Executive Director will report directly to the Board of Directors. Key responsibilities include:

 

Leadership and Team Management:

The ED will serve as an exceptional organizational leader and manager of the administrative staff.

  • Serve as an ambassador and spokesperson for CCV, and articulate the organizational mission to external constituents, partner organizations, and potential funders
  • Maintain positive relationships with CCV staff, Chorale and Chamber Ensemble singers, stakeholders, and vendors
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and appropriate volunteer participation throughout the organization, in support of the CCV mission
  • Ensure achievement of CCV’s goals through successful management of organizational operations

 

Board and Organizational Relations:

The ED will partner and work closely with the Board of Directors and Program Directors on all facets of the organization.

  • Lead the development of annual updates to CCV Strategic Plan, in conjunction with the Board and Program Directors, evaluating action plans implemented and progress made toward goals
  • Attend monthly board meetings and provide monthly updates on the status of all administrative and executive programs and projects
  • Actively participate in Development, HR, and Finance Committees and other committees as assigned by the Board
  • Assist with the expansion and development of the Board of Directors

 

Development and Fundraising:

The ED will lead the development activities of the organization as the chair of the Development Committee.

  • Lead and guide the Development Committee in creation and execution of annual development and fundraising strategies and goals
  • Actively and personally develop and grow relationships with major donors, foundations and corporations to drive sustainable growth in fundraising as needed to support planned program expansion
  • Be responsible for constructing and implementing program and activities to ensure that all fund development revenue goals and short and long term fiscal sustainability of CCV are achieved
  • Oversee semi-annual fundraising campaign efforts and the development of supporting collateral
  • Secure sponsorship support for events, programs, and operations (via corporate, foundation, and individual sponsors), identifying and cultivating new private sector opportunities and partnerships
  • Work with the Program Directors and grant writer in preparing and submitting timely grant applications to government, foundation, and corporate funders, providing all reporting required by grantors
  • Oversee use of donor and patron database and iWave donor prospecting services, and use the data strategically to attract and retain donors, patrons, and stakeholders

 

Marketing:

The ED will provide strategic direction to the development, execution, and measurement of CCV’s marketing strategies.

  • Ensure marketing and communications strategies support CCV’s annual goals and Strategic Plan
  • Build strategic partnerships with media, community organizations, and partners that tell the CCV story
  • Expand broader community awareness of CCV’s mission and increase its impact
  • In partnership with the Artistic Director, support the sustainable growth of CCV’s adult choirs

 

Financial and Budget Management:

The ED will carry overall accountability for the strategic direction and financial health of the organization, in partnership with the Board Finance Committee, Administrative Manager, and Program Directors.

  • Prepare and develop CCV’s annual operating budget in support of the artistic and programmatic plans of the Artistic Director, Director of Music Education, and the Director of Children’s and Youth Choirs
  • Oversee the approved annual budget for all programming and events, monitoring expenses to budget line items
  • Develop and implement short and long range organizational and financial plans consistent with the CCV Strategic Plan, in collaboration with the Artistic Director, the Director of Music Education, the Director of Children’s and Youth Choirs, and the Board Treasurer
  • Maintain and follow financial controls, ensure safe and sound accounting systems and procedures, and comply with governmental regulations
  • Provide timely input to the Board Treasurer on financial projections and analysis for the monthly reporting to the Board

 

The ideal Executive Director of Cantare Con Vivo will have:

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree with at least 3 years of experience in leadership for a non-profit organization, preferably in the arts
  • Demonstrated ability to form, motivate, and encourage teams within the Cantare community
  • Proven ability to develop relationships with individuals, foundations, corporations, and government entities that lead to significant and sustained financial support
  • Demonstrated experience in organizational budgeting
  • Strong and persuasive written and verbal communication skills
  • Track record of inspirational public speaking as key spokesperson for the organization
  • Superb time management, organizational, and logistical planning skills

Position Summary: East Bay Center for the Performing Arts is currently seeking enthusiastic, skilled and creative music teachers to join the School Partnerships team of In-School faculty for the 2020-2021 academic year. The Center partners with the West Contra Costa Unified School District to serve under-resourced elementary schools in Richmond by bringing music education into classrooms where it otherwise would not exist. We are currently planning for all classes to be taught in person.

We aim to provide music programs that incorporate developmentally-appropriate instruction around singing, rhythm, beat, tempo, movement, improvisation and the playing of pitched and non-pitched percussion instruments. We encourage and support teaching artists to incorporate global and local music into their teaching to connect students to their community and the world. Our music teaching artists possess expertise in a particular area, instrument, or style of music, and are committed to offering high-quality, social-emotionally oriented arts education. Ideal candidates are musicians who have a strong teaching background, are passionate about working in under-resourced schools, enjoy working with large groups of students, have strong classroom management skills, and are patient, dynamic, flexible, independent, and punctual.

Start Date: August or September 2021
Schedule: 1-3 days per week*
*Classes occur during the school day, beginning as early as 8:15am and lasting no later than 3pm. Hours and days of teaching are contingent upon the school schedule.
Compensation: $45/hr. for teaching; $20/hr. for prep

Responsibilities:

●  Develop engaging curriculum and units of study that cover age-appropriate material
●  Participate as an active member of the school community to improve school climate
●  Maintain a high-level of professionalism including timeliness, preparedness, dedication, and maintaining commitments to students, school, self, and the community
●  Arrive at least 15 minutes before their first scheduled class
●  Work resourcefully and independently
●  Confer with teachers and school leaders to aid in the development of robust, appropriate, educational programming
●  Plan and facilitate 2 musical performances, one per semester at each school site, as well as other arts-based community engagement events
●  Participate in professional development activities (led by the School Partnerships team), evaluation, and program development
●  Document curriculum and submit weekly lesson plans
●  Meet regularly with Center Director of School Partnerships and Center staff to review goals and progress
● Maintain regular communication with classroom teachers and school administration, including coordinating concerts and communicating needs and challenges

Requirements:

The ideal music teaching artist will have:

●  A Bachelor’s degree; teaching credential or Master’s a plus but not necessary
●  2+ years of experience working with elementary students and developing music curriculum for such grade levels
●  Passion for music and high-level proficiency singing, playing guitar, keyboard/piano, percussion, or another instrument
●  Experience working in under-resourced communities with socio-economic, racial and culturally diverse classroom settings
●  Ability to effectively manage large groups of students
●  Experience coordinating music assemblies and performances
●  An exhibited ability to work with children in a caring and respectful manner in order to create a joyful, caring classroom environment
●  Fluency in Spanish a plus, but not necessary
●  Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, collaborative nature, and a can-do attitude
●  Belief that all students can express themselves artistically and achieve at high levels
