Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Wrightwood Arts Center will be able to keep the doors open. Plain and simple. Located in a rural town in the San Bernardino Mountains, we have created an organization that fills a gap the town didn’t know it had. A storefront. A place to convene. A space for artists’ work. A place to create. Events, classes, workshops, artist consignment and gallery. Small but mighty, we make a difference. We provide much needed artist support. We have survived thus far through community engagement, membership campaigns, generosity from a few, a local grant that got us to this point, and a hard-working board. What we need is assistance with rent, a paid position for a general operations manager and staffing for our open hours to continue this work and grow.

Organization Summary

The organization works to support and showcase the work of local artists from Wrightwood and the surrounding Tri-community area that includes the high desert communities of Phelan and Pinon Hills. Our work includes monthly rotating exhibitions, art classes and workshops taught by local artists, art sales, and annual, quarterly arts events
The Wrightwood Arts Center is a community hub, providing a place to meet, convene, and supports the arts, both for artists and non-artists. We promote arts appreciation to the larger community by creating as many free and accessible events throughout the year. On Saturdays we have open studio hours and on Sundays we hold children craft sessions.
