The William James Association (WJA) will present a series of free poetry, collage, and storytelling workshops for formerly incarcerated individuals, their families, and underserved communities impacted by the carceral system. Led by returned resident artists and community-based teaching artists, workshops will take place in partnership with Project Rebound and With Our Words in San Francisco, Humboldt, Sacramento, and Stockton. Participants will create collaborative visual and literary works exploring healing, identity, reentry, and community connection. CAC grant funds will support teaching artist fees, participant honoraria, accessibility planning, workshop materials, mural production, public events, travel, and community partner support. The project will culminate in four large-scale public vinyl murals and community events that amplify participant voices while increasing public dialogue around incarceration, healing, family connection, and belonging.
