Temecula Valley Writers and Illustrators began in 2023 as a gathering of three writers and has grown into one of Riverside County’s most active literary and arts communities. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, TVWI brings together writers, artists, poets, screenwriters, and filmmakers with a shared mission to support one another’s craft, technique, and professional growth. Our members range from debut creators taking their first steps to award winners and New York Times bestselling authors, reflecting the full spectrum of creative experience our region has to offer.

TVWI runs 15 distinct monthly programs, including educational monthly meetings with professional guest speakers, small group genre meet-ups (Romance, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Book Marketing, Children’s and Young Adult, Nonfiction, Screenwriting, Poetry, Humor, and RPG & Storytelling), spoken word and quick draw art events, co-working sessions, and vibrant Zoom workshops. Our Community Anthology Program, initiated in 2024, paired local writers with local visual artists to produce an independently published collection. This two-volume series became an Amazon Best Seller and provided many contributors with their first professional publishing credit. For many, this was the first time their creative work appeared in print. In 2026, we are producing two new volumes: one for artists and one for writers.

Governed by a Board of Directors and run entirely by 26 dedicated volunteers, TVWI envisions the Temecula Valley as a regional hub for arts and culture — where the creative life is not a solitary pursuit but a shared, community-based experience open to everyone. Our monthly meetings draw an average of 60 attendees, and our geographic reach extends across the Inland Empire from Temecula, Murrieta, Menifee, Wildomar, Lake Elsinore, Hemet, and Perris, into North San Diego and under-resourced, unincorporated communities throughout the region. Virtual programming via Zoom and a video library ensure that distance is never a barrier to participation.
