With support from the California Arts Council, TABLE ART SOCIETY will sustain general operations and strengthen arts and creative expression infrastructure at a critical moment for San Diego’s arts ecosystem. As the city’s arts budget contracts sharply, independent, community-rooted organizations are essential to sustaining a robust and diverse arts workforce. We support over 90 working artists annually from historically under-resourced communities through cohort-based development, and we actively build community bridges that connect artists to paid work and sustainable pathways. Over 90% of cohort artists present their work publicly. As a first-time CAC applicant and small organization, this funding will support core operating expenses, executive leadership salary, stipend program leadership, and the relational infrastructure that sustains working artists and strengthens cultural vitality across San Diego.
The Table Art Society provides artist-centered programs that support creative development, community connection, and access to public-facing opportunities. Our work equips artists with the resources, relationships, and platforms needed to sustain their creative practice.
Artist Development Cohorts
TAS facilitates structured cohorts offering mentorship, peer support, and practical tools for artistic and professional growth. These cohorts emphasize creative discipline, collaboration, and long-term sustainability for working artists.
Public Showcases and Performances
We produce live events and showcases that create opportunities for artists to present their work publicly. These programs increase artist visibility while providing accessible and meaningful arts experiences for the community.
Community Gatherings and Creative Events
TAS hosts community-centered gatherings that bring artists and audiences together in participatory and relational settings, fostering connection and cultural exchange.
Artist Support and Resource Navigation
We provide ongoing support through connections to opportunities, professional guidance, and access to networks that extend beyond individual programs, including pathways to paid and public-facing work.
Through these programs, The Table Art Society serves a growing network of artists and contributes to a more connected and sustainable creative ecosystem in San Diego.
