Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, Stapleton School of the Performing Arts will expand the reach of the Citizen Artist/Opening Night program, serving more schools and students throughout Marin County. This school-based outreach initiative brings California Arts Standards–aligned theatre and dance education directly into public school classrooms, providing hands-on instruction for underserved youth led by professional teaching artists.

For many students, this is their first exposure to the performing arts. Those inspired are invited to participate in Opening Night, a free on-campus access program offering introductory classes and a welcoming entry point into continued training.

CAC grant funds will directly support teaching artist salaries, scholarships, transportation, and supplies, ensuring equitable access and creating a sustained pathway from initial exposure to ongoing artistic development for underserved youth.
