Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, SLOMA will expand free countywide community arts programming during a critical institutional transition. As we complete renovations on our new downtown museum and convert our Broad Street facility into a dedicated Arts Education Center, we will ensure uninterrupted arts access through offsite programming leading up to and throughout our temporary facility closure.

As San Luis Obispo County’s only art museum, we serve students, families, working adults, emerging artists, and historically underserved communities through no-cost, culturally-responsive programming. CAC funds will provide vital support for bilingual family artmaking events, pop-up creative workshops, Downtown Farmers’ Market activations, after-hours arts programming, and collaborative community events with local partners.

These programs will remove barriers to participation, sustain continuity of service, and keep the arts visible, inclusive, and accessible during SLOMA’s Winter–Summer 2027 hiatus.
