Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, SAN DIEGO JAZZ VENTURES INC will present the 3rd annual San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival from Oct 1-4, 2026. Funds will support activities on the US side of the border, including both our opening night on Oct 1, a free admission “Jazz Party” in downtown San Diego’s East Village, and our “Mainstage” program on Oct 3, a free and ticketed event at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. The festival features regional, national, and international artists and has a strong educational component that engages high school and university students from both sides of the border. Our mission is to explore the musical history of the border region, drawing connections between jazz and Latin music, and to support the present and future of jazz in our region.

Organization Summary

San Diego Jazz Ventures Inc’s primary activity is the production of the annual San Diego Tijuana International Jazz Festival (SDTJ Jazz). The festival takes place over four days including the first weekend of October, including performances in Escondido, downtown San Diego, and Tijuana. Our second annual festival in October 2025 attracted attendance of more than 4,500 on both sides of the border. 75% attended at no fee for admission.
