With the support from the California Arts Council Sacramento Women’s Chorus (SWC) will: Continue to expand chorus activities in the community started last year.
1) expand access to choral performances and instructional programs,
2) build a renewed social media presence attracting younger members and members from the under-represented community,
3) increase capacity of SWC to engage in community outreach.
4) develop SWC performance skills via a Masterclass. Have Artistic Directors attend Choral Directors conference to speak with composers/peers to learn improvement techniques,
5) organizational re-branding a new informational website enhancing the community’s knowledge of SWC and assist with recruiting new members and attracting larger audiences.
6) purchase e-readers/accessories that will resize music to be easier to read.
7) rent a bus to transport SWC members, reduce individual parking fees and gas expense to attend concerts.
SWC’s core program is choral music performance provided by women. Our
performances highlight issues affecting women, such as gender equity, and
domestic violence awareness. We also partner with other local community
organizations focused upon women’s issues. We also fund raise with
proceeds going to support women’s causes, including scholarships for senior
high school females, with an interest in the arts, food drives for local food
distribution centers, and feminine hygiene items for high school girls.
