Root Access is a nonprofit community hackerspace and makerspace in Fresno, California, offering public access to tools, education, and collaborative creative space.

Our core programs focus on equitable access to fabrication tools, including 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC machines, electronics equipment, sewing machines, woodworking and metalworking tools, and more. These resources are offered through an affordable membership model, with flexibility to accommodate a range of financial situations. This helps lower traditional barriers of cost and space that often limit access to creative technology.

We host regular community events and meetups that promote skill-sharing and peer learning. Topics include digital art, programming, cybersecurity, crafting, and other creative disciplines. These gatherings are free, welcoming, and open to all, helping build social infrastructure around shared creative interests.

Root Access also offers a wide range of hands-on workshops and creative skill-building classes. Our ROOT series introduces members to key tools like sewing machines, vinyl cutters, and laser cutters. Additional skill classes teach foundational techniques in both craft and technology, including soldering and fiber arts. We also host short-form workshops that support artistic expression through mixed media, digital fabrication, and traditional crafts. These offerings support both technical learning and artistic exploration.

We strive to create an inclusive and welcoming space where people of all backgrounds feel supported, including LGBTQIA+ individuals, people of color, and low-income community members. Our flexibility and community culture have helped foster a naturally diverse membership.
