Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Resonance Collective (RC) will strengthen organizational sustainability and deepen community engagement through increased administrative capacity.

RC requests $10,000 in general operating support to support Artistic Director, Managing Director, and Touring Manager compensation, ensuring equitable pay for core leadership roles that sustain RC’s artistic programming, partnerships, and community initiatives. Funding will help RC continue transitioning toward a diversified and sustainable funding model supported by earned revenue, grants, and individual donations. By strengthening administrative infrastructure, RC will be able to reinvest earned income and ticket revenue into accessible community engagement activities and equitable pay for artists based in Southern California.

Organization Summary

The Resonance Collective is a creative community that looks to the arts as a vehicle for transformative and transcendental experiences. We began in 2012 and offer three programs: the Original Works program, the Golden Thread Concert Series, and the N.E.O Voice Festival.

In 2019, we launched the N.E.O. Voice Festival in collaboration with VoiceScienceWorks and See-A-Dot Music Publishing. This annual, week-long celebration of new and experimental vocal music has since worked with over 200 musicians and has premiered more than 100 new works for the voice.

In 2022, we introduced Golden Thread Concerts, a curation of artists and composers across time and geography who exemplify the intersection of creative and spiritual practices. The series has presented nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, including oud player and composer Yuval Ron, Jazz legend Dwight Trible, electronic artist and soprano Micaela Tobin, and pianist Vicki Ray.
