With support from the California Arts Council, Oakland Style Lab will be able to eliminate fees for our dynamic Reimagine Fashion summer program and add 2 cohorts, allowing us to meet our equity goals of serving exponentially more low-income youth.

Since 2021, our fashion arts and sustainability program has taught 90+ diverse teens to design their own garments using “upcycling” methods and turn old clothing into “new” one-of-a-kind outfits – then rock the runway.
Our climate justice focus ensures youth become stewards of the environment and their communities, while boosting their creativity, confidence, and skills.

Without funding, we’ve relied on families to cover costs, allocating 2 scholarships per cohort. CAC’s support will dramatically expand low-income families’ access to this powerful arts programming: from 2 students in 1 cohort, to all 36 students across 3 cohorts.
