Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, Non Stop Bhangra will sustain and strengthen its core community-based cultural programming, including weekly Bhangra dance classes, ongoing cultural events, and large-scale productions such as Bhangra & Beats Night Market. Grant funds will support artist and collaborator compensation, production costs, and administrative capacity needed to maintain consistent, accessible programming.
These efforts will allow us to continue creating inclusive spaces that bring people together through music, movement, and shared cultural experience, fostering connection, cultural exchange, and community well-being. Funding will also help ensure that our programs remain financially accessible to diverse communities while supporting the long-term sustainability of our organization and the artists who make this work possible.
Organization Summary
Non Stop Bhangra offers a range of community-centered cultural programs that bring people together through music, movement, and shared experience.
Our core programs include weekly Bhangra dance classes through Dholrhythms Dance Company, providing consistent and accessible opportunities for people of all levels to engage with Punjabi folk dance in a welcoming, non-judgmental environment.
We also produce immersive cultural events and gatherings, including our long-running Non Stop Bhangra dance parties, which combine DJs, live drummers, dance lessons, and performances to create participatory spaces centered on joy and community.
In addition, we produce large-scale cultural productions such as Bhangra & Beats Night Market and Colors of India—multidisciplinary experiences that bring together music, dance, food, and local small businesses to celebrate culture in vibrant, accessible ways.
Across all of our programs, we focus on creating inclusive spaces that foster connection, cultural exchange, and well-being for diverse communities.
