Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, MUSLIM DAVIS ENGAGEMENT AND INTERFAITH NETWORK will support the creation and display of Shared Prophets: A Visual Journey Across Traditions, a traveling exhibition of 20 original, non-figurative artworks exploring shared stories across cultures and faith traditions. The project will be hosted in public spaces such as libraries, universities, and community venues in Northern California.
Organization Summary
We come together to pray, work on community projects, plan events, educational forums, and participated in community outreach.We love partnering with community members who share our values to work in the space of interfaith and dialogue across diverse communities. We hold community-wide events, often with children’s art projects, that invite the public to get to know our Muslim culture and religion. We participate in community efforts such as art exhibits and interfaith groups and discussions. For example we donated $1,000 in 2024 to the International House in Davis for an event called Beitna that highlighted Arab culture, we hosted Erguvan Art Academy at an iftar to demonstrate Turkish calligraphy. We actively build and support community through providing meals and clothes to local homeless shelters.
