Project Description
“Lovely Bouquet of Flowers: An Exploration of Non-Traditional Gender Voices” is a fiscally sponsored, performance-based storytelling project amplifying trans and nonbinary voices through live theatre, documentary film, and community-led workshops. With recent grant funding secured from RESIST for programming at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, CAC support would allow us to deepen and expand our work – reaching additional sites across California, including Folsom State Prison and local universities. Funds will support artist stipends, travel, creative materials, and facilitation of trauma-informed workshops rooted in storytelling and symbolic resistance. Though our project has existed since 2012, we relaunched our national tour this year and are operating with new revenue under fiscal sponsorship. CAC funding will be catalytic – allowing us to scale an already-proven model of creative, inclusive community engagement during a moment of urgent cultural need.
Organization Summary
The Anthesis Tour: A multidisciplinary touring initiative featuring live theatrical performances, participatory workshops, film screenings, panel discussions, and community-centered artistic engagement designed to amplify trans and queer voices through storytelling, dialogue, and creative expression.
• Theatrical Performances: Original performance works combining monologues, movement, poetry, music, and ensemble storytelling that explore identity, resilience, memory, and collective transformation through trans and queer experiences.
• Documentary Film & Docuseries: The feature documentary In Full Bloom…transcending gender and the developing Anthesis Tour docuseries preserve and amplify evolving trans narratives through film, interviews, civic engagement, and community storytelling across California.
• Educational Workshops & Public Engagement: Interactive workshops, artist talks, and facilitated dialogue programs presented in universities, correctional facilities, community organizations, and public institutions using symbolic creative frameworks to encourage reflection, participation, and cultural exchange.
• Community Partnerships & Accessibility: Collaborative programming developed alongside artists, educators, public health organizations, civic leaders, and community partners to expand access to culturally responsive multidisciplinary arts experiences.
