With support from the California Arts Council, Los Angeles Master Chorale will increase youth participation in and access to high-quality, culturally responsive, vocal arts education through Voices Within and Youth Chorus Los Angeles.
The Grammy™ Award-winning Los Angeles Master Chorale is the “the finest-by-far major chorus in America” (Los Angeles Times) and a vibrant cultural treasure. Hailed for its powerful performances, technical precision, and artistic daring, the Chorale is led by Grant Gershon, Kiki & David Gindler Artistic Director; Associate Artistic Director Jenny Wong; and President & CEO Scott Altman. Created by legendary conductor Roger Wagner in 1964, the Chorale is a founding resident company of The Music Center and choir-in-residence at Walt Disney Concert Hall. A standard-bearer for classical music performed at the highest level, the Chorale continues to balance traditional and evolving repertoire. Having just celebrated its 60th anniversary, the Chorale has spent decades growing its reputation and has established itself as a critical leader in classical choral music.
We envision a world in which choral music is a conduit for belonging, a vehicle for participation in the arts, and a means for understanding and exploring commonalities and differences. Each year, the Chorale involves approximately 80,000 in-person concertgoers, students, families and community members through its own concert series at Walt Disney Concert Hall, learning programs, innovative collaborations, commissioning of new work, recordings, performances with the L.A. Phil, LA Sings! community concerts, and domestic and international touring. The Chorale is dedicated to transforming L.A. into a city of singers and nurturing our vibrant choral ecosystem.
