With support from the CAC, the Larry Spring Museum will develop a group exhibition as the culmination of Redwood Time, a multi-year community-made response to the redwood round and its affixed timeline that dominates downtown Fort Bragg. Committed to a radical localism, the project reinterprets time, memory, and place through participatory art-making. Phase 3 (2026): The exhibition of the completed fabric round will take place in the dry shed on the old mill site — a historically potent location where the original tree was milled. The fabric round will anchor the exhibition, accompanied by works from local visual and performance artists. Fort Bragg has historically taken a traditional approach to public programming, and the transformation of the mill site by artists will model a contemporary way to engage with the community and its contested legacies.
