Our current and planned programs or services include:

In Their Words | A program focused on poetry, writing, and translation. In Their Words runs poetry salons that emphasize new or past work produced in other languages with and without a translated accompaniment. Through this program we run classes on the art of translation, largely from Yiddish and Ladino, to train a new generation to support endangered languages and keep the continuity of both cultural and personal histories among participants.

Der Zunenshtral (The Sunbeam) | A program to promote Yiddish language and culture across Southern California through traditional arts events, lectures, and a monthly newsletter that acts as a clearinghouse for Yiddish organizations in the region, along with news, updates, translations, and new works being produced in Yiddish.

Kultur Series | Essays, past and present, bringing important context and nuance to contemporary discussions. These essays focus on cultural preservation and community flourishing in a multicultural and multiethnic democracy.

Kultur Mercado | Our signature program creates a festival atmosphere focused on specific regions of the world. This program brings together culture bearers, artists, and food vendors for a day market while providing lectures and music related to our specific geographic focus area to introduce the general public to specific cultures, cuisines, and the challenges and opportunities within those communities.

Community Art Activations | Through a partnership with Motor LA, a gallery without walls, we bring art pop-ups to communities around Los Angeles, focusing on underserved communities and those with park inequity, through a mobile art gallery trailer and work with artists engaged in socially engaged practice. These events both show artist’s works and often provide resources and materials for engaging the community in art, offering art and other educational resources, and encouraging ephemeral reclamation of spaces that empower communities to come together.
