With support from the California Arts Council, KINGSMEN SHAKESPEARE COMPANY will strengthen its new leadership infrastructure and implement fresh board governance strategies to ensure long-term organizational sustainability. These efforts will support the development and vision for a strategic framework that will guide and sustain the presentation of Shakespeare and classical theatre programming for the community over the next 30 years.
Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival serves the greater Conejo Valley and Los Angeles and Ventura Counties through a blend of live performance, youth programs, and community outreach.
Our cornerstone is the Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival, a family-friendly outdoor summer event now in its 30th season. With professional artists and engaging performances held on the CLU campus, the festival brings thousands together each year in celebration of classical theater.
We also offer robust educational programming, including:
• The Shakespeare Educational Tour, which brings interactive workshops and abridged productions directly into schools, exposing students to live theater and Shakespeare’s texts.
• The Apprentice and Junior Apprentice Programs, providing young artists with hands-on experience in performance and stagecraft.
• Summer camps that use Shakespeare to build acting and collaboration skills while nurturing each student’s unique strengths and talents.
Through these programs, young people gain practical experience in a professional environment, often inspiring further study in the arts or related fields.
Kingsmen actively participates in community events with local organizations to extend our reach and deepen impact. We also host special events such as talkbacks, workshops, and fundraisers to build stronger ties with audiences and supporters.
