Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, The Girls’ Jazz and Blues Society will expand access to free, female-centered music education for underserved youth in the Sacramento region. Funds will support general operating expenses, including teaching artist stipends, program coordination, outreach, and essential resources needed to sustain and grow programming. This support will allow TGJBS to build on its current summer camp model by increasing enrollment, expanding scholarship access, and strengthening year-round, female-rooted mentorship opportunities. By investing in organizational capacity, CAC funding will enable TGJBS to serve more girls annually while ensuring programs remain free of charge. These efforts will provide transformative, culturally responsive music experiences that foster artistic growth, confidence, and leadership among young women from historically marginalized communities.
