Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Fountain Theatre will sustain and expand its year-round artistic, educational, and community engagement programming in East Hollywood. CAC funds will support the Fountain’s 2027 season of new plays and reimagined classics addressing urgent social issues, alongside community-centered initiatives including Fountain for Youth, accessibility efforts such as our Living Ticket, and community engagement activities. Under the artistic leadership of Raymond O. Caldwell, the Fountain continues to deepen its commitment to culturally responsive programming that reflects and amplifies the diversity of Los Angeles. Funds will help provide artist compensation, accessible community programming, arts education services for underserved youth, and operational support that strengthens the organization’s capacity to serve approximately 6,000 audience members and students annually through performances, workshops, residencies, and public events.

Organization Summary

The Fountain Theatre produces world class theatre productions with professional artists at our intimate venue in the East Hollywood neighborhood of Los Angeles, provides underserved youth with engaging, one-of-a-kind arts enrichment programming, and builds intersectional, intergenerational community through a variety of outreach offerings and events including our longstanding Flamenco program. Under the new artistic leadership of Raymond O. Caldwell, all facets of our programming are intentionally interconnected around the mainstage season bring all facets of our community into conversation around the themes and increase impact. Mainstage seasons and program delivery are carefully deliberated during the season planning process to be in alignment to our mission to produce new works that address urgent social issues while being responsive to community need.
