With support from the California Arts Council, the Flamenco Arts Festival (FAF) will advance its strategic plan to increase visibility, expand community reach, and strengthen public engagement through a comprehensive marketing initiative. Key components include expanded advertising, outreach to industry media at the local, national, and international levels, and hiring a marketing consultant.
The FAF continues to face significant impacts from inflation, creating ongoing operational challenges. These pressures have made it increasingly difficult to sustain mission-critical programming, strategic initiatives, and effective operations.
In a crowded media landscape led by larger organizations, it must amplify its presence to remain viable. Increased marketing investment will help to reach diverse audiences, expand cultural access, and strengthen public engagement to support long-term growth. Meaningful community connection begins with visibility.
The FAF is a cultural arts experience for the entire community and is devoted to the ancient art of flamenco. Year-round events include live dance and music concerts, lectures, films and documentaries, tributes, and dance and music workshops. The FAF brings world-renowned artists from Spain and the U.S. to Santa Barbara where they perform, teach, lecture during their residency, and act as cultural ambassadors. The FAF attracts local, national, and international attendees.
Programs are designed create a change in the understanding and interest in the art form; celebrate Hispanics in the arts and promote an appreciation for the uniqueness of others; reflect the community we live in; promote participation by people from diverse cultures and backgrounds; celebrate and honor the long tradition of flamenco in Santa Barbara; promote and preserve the art form as designated by UNESCO; build bridges of positive experiences between people and opportunities for mutual sharing and conversation; provide affordable and accessible arts programming through free programming for those of all ages and underserved.
Most events are fee based but the FAF also provides, through its Access to the Arts Initiative, free programming, scholarships, fiscal sponsorships, and is committed to partnerships and collaborations.
