Daroo Korean Performing Arts and Culture(“Daroo”) was founded as a non-profit organization dedicated to spread and promote Korean traditional music and arts in the U.S. The mission is to pass down the legacy and spirit of Korean to the future generation. To achieve the goal, we’ve been hosting music & arts education and performances in Los Angeles area since 2007 and have been holding the Annual U.S. Korean Traditional Music & Arts Competition and Festival, where performers of different ages and backgrounds from all over the United States come together to showcase their skills and talent. In addition, we’ve been operating fusion music group “Haemil” to give more chance to spread Korean music. Here are the specific purposes,
(1) Promote the excellence of Korean culture in the U.S. and inspire pride and patriotism of Korean nation
(2) To help Korean Americans have a Korean identity
(3) To pass on the Korean culture to the growing generation and to succeed and develop the tradition
(4) To Cultivate talented people who have strong potential of Korean traditional music and arts
(5) To inform other community groups about our Korean traditional culture and to establish Korean culture. For the purpose of informing Korean culture, the beneficiaries of the service are Koreans and other ethnic groups including infants / young people, low-income seniors.
