With support from the California Arts Council, Citric Acid: An Online Orange County Literary Arts Quarterly will fund for one year basic production costs related to publication and distribution of our quarterly free subscription journal: its managing editor’s part-time salary; stipends for ~30 contributors over four issues; and web hosting, content management, and web-based text-to-speech software for readers with disabilities. In our effort to sustain a free online journal, we address the discrepancy between significant readership (views, opens, clicks, shares, likes) and actual enrollments and donations. General operating support will not only ensure continued publication but also free up funds for publicity and outreach to build community engagement and subscriptions, develop our donor base, and secure reliable reader funding, expanding both our readership and existing affiliations with community arts groups and institutions in Orange County.
