CD supports the dance ecosystem through digital archives that preserve artistic legacies while activating them for public engagement, education, and cultural awareness. Our technologies increase the visibility, utility, and accessibility of dance history, particularly for those with limited resources.

The CD DigitalVault™, a cloud-based platform that houses searchable digital archives, enables artists, companies, educators, and community members to engage dynamically with historical materials. CD collaborates with partner organizations to digitize and remediate their materials, apply searchable metadata, and build a CD DigitalVault that captures artistic contributions often missing from the historical record. CD also creates a public-facing portal for each archive, expanding access to dance history while supporting research, teaching, and intergenerational exchange.

To make archival preservation more accessible and affordable, CD developed CD SmartCapture™, an original software that processes performance programs and Playbills™ up to 20 times faster than manual methods. By accelerating the extraction of foundational archival data such as artists’ names, work titles, and venues, CD SmartCapture lowers financial and technical barriers to archival preservation for organizations of all sizes and means.

Our newest initiative, CurtainConnect™, bridges archival practice with online community. This social-archival platform serves as a digital stage on which former dancers, choreographers, set designers, and other performing arts professionals contribute personal media and reflections that connect lived experience to institutional archives. By centering individuals’ stories, CurtainConnect encourages community dialogue, expands cultural memory, and deepens public understanding of dance.

The ChromaDiverse Digital Archivist Internship is a paid program that offers high school students experience in cultural preservation and creative technology. Interns build practical skills in digital asset management systems and office software while participating in archiving workflows in a professional environment. The program cultivates technical proficiency, collaborative learning, and cultural understanding, preparing interns for careers in the arts, technology, and research.
