With support from the California Arts Council, BURBANK PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA will present free professional-quality concerts making symphony music accessible to a local audience. This grant will allow us to cover the payment of salaries and benefits to performing artists and general production costs, as well as help to retain and perhaps expand our staff so that we can continue the orchestra’s education initiatives, community outreach, and marketing in order to increase our visibility and presence in the community. We hope to stage two concerts this grant cycle: A concerto concert featuring recent winners of our annual Young Artists Competition, and a full orchestra concert featuring the winner of our Discovery Conductor Project which mentors local high school students in the art of conducting, providing them with a rare opportunity to conduct a professional orchestra.
Free and low cost live orchestra performances available to all. Educational programs include a yearly Young Artist Competition with winner performing as a solo artist with the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra and the Discovery Conductor Project, a unique program for high school conductors that provides mentorship and the opportunity to rehearse and perform with the Burbank Philharmonic.
