Project Description
With support from the California Arts Council, Arts United San Pedro will provide programs and services to support an equitable and accessible arts ecosystem that truly reflects the diversity and vibrancy of the community within the San Pedro Arts and Cultural District, one of the original fourteen state-designated California Cultural Districts. We will elevate historically under-resourced artists with funding, public access and advocacy, as well as produce free and low cost community art events for traditionally underserved audiences. We will build on partnerships to support and promote diversity and cultural traditions within our artistic community.
Organization Summary
* Community Engagement Activities – collaborative efforts between artists, organizations and the community to create shared experiences and foster connections through art
* Wayfinding – using artistic and creative design within the city’s signs and visual cues to help people navigate our artistic community
* Advocacy – using connections to government agencies and other arts coalitions to empower the arts community, make art accessible to everyone, appeal for public funding, address social justice issues, and more
* Fund Development – raising funds to support the artists of the cultural district through donations, grants, sponsorships, special events, and more
* Outreach – providing programs that bring arts and cultural experiences to underserved communities
