With support from the California Arts Council, the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art (SLOMA) will provide free arts education programs for K–12 youth and working families across San Luis Obispo County. The project expands access to enriching out-of-classroom arts experiences for historically underserved communities.

The program includes two components: First, SLOMA’s free “Second Saturdays” family art events offer guided and self-guided bilingual art activities on the museum’s Sculpture Lawn in Mission Plaza, encouraging intergenerational creativity and exploration of contemporary art. Second, Central Coast artist Kiel Johnson will lead “The Art of Working Together,” a collaborative art initiative in SLOMA’s new Arts Education Center where youth and adults contribute individual pieces to a collective artwork.

Through school partnerships and countywide outreach, SLOMA’s project will foster teamwork, communication, and community connection through free, hands-on arts participation.
