Project Description
Oaxaca Tierra del Sol is a very small organization dedicated to keeping the traditions and roots of Oaxacans alive in Northern California. We are a group of Oaxacans working on a voluntary basis, and we require resources to continue developing arts programs within our community in addition to organizing the Guelaguetza Sonoma. We also support Indigenous communities by providing resources that enable the continued creation of art, including dance, music, and handicrafts in activities that engage children, youth, and adults alike.
Organization Summary
As we are dedicated to spreading culture, we financially support through scholarships to the Indigenous communities already established and located throughout California, this money is used to acquire their Original costumes, thread for the Indigenous communities that spin their own Huipiles, we have artisans and Musicians, We are also a collaboration link carrying information in cases of natural disasters, we help with our census of Indigenous Languages when there is a need for translation.
We give folkloric dance classes, indigenous dances, music, etc.
