Project Description

With support from the California Arts Council, the Siskiyou County Arts Council will organize and present year four of Siskiyou X Days, a multi-day, county-wide arts celebration and event series. Siskiyou X Days will highlight the vibrancy of arts activities in Siskiyou County while uplifting historically excluded artists, including BIPOC and LGBTQA+, homeless, low-income, living with disabilities, informally trained, and justice impacted.

Organization Summary

Our organizational priorities are to increase equity, particularly racial equity, in and through the arts; ensure the long-term vitality of the arts ecosystem by supporting self-organization strategies; and foster individual creativity throughout life. Acknowledging art as a fundamental human need, SCAC ensures we provide equitable access to our arts programming and opportunities. We lead county-wide arts programming that focuses on habitually underserved communities, develop strategic local arts initiatives to connect and highlight the full arts ecosystem, coordinate arts emergency preparedness initiatives and mutual aid funds, and offer fiscal sponsorship for nascent arts organizations and projects by and serving under resourced and excluded communities.
