With support from the California Arts Council, LOS ANGELES THEATRE ACADEMY INC will provide accessible after-school arts programming for children ages 5–12 through theater, music, dance, visual arts, and cultural arts experiences. CAC funds will support teaching artists, youth support staff, transportation, arts supplies, performance materials, and program operations that help create safe and enriching opportunities for children.
Our program helps remove barriers to arts participation through scholarships, inclusive support, and school pickup transportation for working families, low-income households, English learner families, and children with disabilities. Students will participate in weekly arts instruction, creative projects, rehearsals, and performances that build confidence, creativity, teamwork, leadership, and self-expression. Through culturally responsive arts experiences and community events, children and families are encouraged to feel connected, supported, and proud of their creativity and cultural identity.
After School Program: Weekdays between the hours of 2:20-6:00 PM. This includes theatre classes, art activities, bilingual homework help, and snacks for 45 children between the ages of 5 to 12. We have pickup service that supports working parents. We currently have a waiting list for this program.
Summer, Winter and Spring Theatre Camp- a very popular camp that supports working parents with all day-classes and workshops (800 AM- 6:00 PM). Classes include acting, dancing, singing, costuming, props and other theatre -related disciplines. Approximately 55 children per week.
Seasonal Performances- With both professional actors and LATA students, we have produced in the past shows that are now annual traditions. Part of our mission is to provide students with a professional stage.
